Hey everyone, so I just made this account to share my awful experience with this virus and maybe help inform some people about the symptoms, what does it feel like/ look like etc 🤒#Monkeypox

So a bit of context, I’m a male in my late 20’s living in Europe. Two weeks ago I was on Holidays, over there I went to clubs, I went to festivals with big crowds, kissed some people, I had a good time till I returned home. #monkeypox

DAY 1: I flew back home, in the morning I was feeling fine just a bit tired from the trip. That evening I had my first symptom, I suddenly felt fatigued and I had a very bad headache, I layed down in bed and fell asleep. During the night I started to have chills, I couldnt sleep.

#Day2 I had high fever the whole night, I couldnt get out of bed and I thought oh its just a cold. During the day I started to have muscle pain, back pain, literally my body was hurting so much as if I had ran a marathon or something, headaches were still there

#Day3 another sleepless night, high fever, during the day it will go away but then will come back at any time, I realized the lymph nodes in my neck were swollen so I knew my body was fighting a virus, I felt tired the whole day but still I thought it was just a heavy cold

#Day4 I woke up feeling the same, so I thought for a second that it could be Covid so I went to get tested, it came back negative. That day while I was taking a shower - There it was, I saw two sort of pimples on my arm and I thought wth are there, thats when I realized …

That it might be #Monkeypox, I started to google the symptoms and everything I was feeling was listed. I called my doctor and I explained that I was fearing I could have MonkeyPox, we made a videocall and she sent me to get tested for monkeypox

During the day I started to feell very unwell, I was taking painkillers to help my headaches, fever but now the most (and still) painfull symptoms is the pain in my throat, it became hard to eat, even to drink water or swallow my own saliva, it is so irritated and swollen

#Day5 I went to get tested and they explained me the procedure, they took a blood test, and took a swap sample from my throat, anus and spots. That day I came back home and slept the whole day, still with fever, headache, and a very painful sore throat

#Day6 (Today)
*Graphic Images* So after 2 days I started to see the spots spreading in other parts of my body #MonkeyPox

They are not as painful as I thought they would be (Yet) but they are very itchy and everyday I have more and more, luckily I havent had any on my face or mouth yet

Today I also called my doctor because my glands are so swollen that I cant speak anymore, I cant drink water without feeling pain, or swallow my own saliva. My fever comes and goes, I have still headaches, and I just very generally very ill.

So tomorrow I get the official results but its clearly that it is MonkeyPox, and according to what they told me I would have to be in quarantine for 2-3 weeks untill all the spots are gone. I’ll keep sharing my daily journey and if anyone has any questions please let me know 🙏🏻

#Day7 oh my god, I’ve never felt so ill in my life. I could barely sleep last night, my throat is literally killing me, the pain is so unbearable 😖. I just had a shower, saw that many of the spots are getting bigger (Whiter/Yellowish) very disgusting.

Changed my bed sheets and just waiting the call from the doctor to confirm it is indeed #MonkeyPox . At this point, I dont wanna do anything else than laying in bed try to sleep. I really thought I would have this time just to relax, watch tv but no, I really feel sick af 🤒😣
