Theorell, who dedicated his entire career to enzyme research, received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1955 for discovering the oxidation enzyme and its effects.
His contribution also consisted of the theory of the toxic effects of sodium fluoride on the cofactors of crucial human enzymes.
Sodium #fluoride is an enzymatic poison. Useful when studying enzymatic processes. Stops it cold.
Amazing critters, enzymes. -|- "ALP is an enzyme present in bone and liver cells and can be used to diagnose liver, bone and parathyroid disease."
"First, studies with adult rats have shown that chronic low-level fluoride exposure can lead to glomerular hypercellularity & mesangial cell proliferation, reduced kidney enzyme activity, interstitial nephritis, & renal tubule hypertrophy & hyperplasia."
"Increased apoptosis and tubular epithelial damage, including necrosis, have also been observed among children with high fluoride exposures. Chronic low-level fluoride exposure is also associated with decreased thyroid gland activity among children"

"Fluoride was found to be a cytotoxic agent to cultured human pulp cells by inhibiting cell growth, proliferation, mitochondrial activity, and protein synthesis."
"Bioavailable #fluorine is killing us. -|- "In the cellular immunity, we found that sodium fluoride (NaF) in excess of 12 mg/Kg resulted in a significant decrease in the percentages of CD3+, CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8+ T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood." researchgate.net/publication/31…
To start this weeks #FluorideFriday session, we talk bout overfeeds, accidental poisoning and #fluoridation.
The #StannousFoilHat wearing types do not like to talk about this issue. Never have, either. This from the infamous 1951 meeting.
"The barrel wouldn't fall through."
However, overfeeds are a common issue, along with underfeeds. This Spring it happened again. richmond-il.com/wp-content/upl…
Have no fear, though, it is only a '*cosmetic*' dental problem.
No, no it doesn't. The #prevention of dental disease is in the patients hands, thank goodness. Now if only #Dentistry would get behind #prevention, that would be swell.
This is what an ineffective (worthless) #prevention regimen will get you. Instead of decreasing the need for clinical intervention, let's get another set of hands in the patients mouth!
🙈🙉🙊
Treatment wins, prevention loses. Yet again... dentaleconomics.com/macro-op-ed/ar…
