To start this weeks #FluorideFriday session, we talk bout overfeeds, accidental poisoning and #fluoridation.
The #StannousFoilHat wearing types do not like to talk about this issue. Never have, either. This from the infamous 1951 meeting.

"The barrel wouldn't fall through."
However, overfeeds are a common issue, along with underfeeds. This Spring it happened again.

Have no fear, though, it is only a '*cosmetic*' dental problem.
If so, then explain why '*white spot lesions" during orthodontia occur? Huh?
Water People: This is merely a cosmetic, permanent & lifelong alteration of the chemical composition of your teeth. Trust us, because the #Dentist profession told us this is cool. We are the water people, we only do what we are told. Is there such a thing as skeletal fluorosis?
It happens regularly, like clock work. Usually, nobody is the wiser. A slug of raw #fluorine acid can go down the line, and nobody would know. The symptoms of acute #fluorine intoxication are similar to many other maladies we suffer, so nobody would suspect #fluoridation.
The #StannousFoilHat wearing types do not want this information bandied about among laypeople. It could happen anywhere, anytime, and to anyone.

Hooper's Bay comes to mind.

Anywhere, anytime, anyone. -|- "Acute fluoride poisoning caused the death of one patient in Maryland and, recently, of three patients in Illinois"
"Finally, under certain operating conditions, the fluoride concentrate (18,000 mg per liter) could be siphoned into the well if the hose was kept connected to the drop pipe and its free end was placed in the fluoride vat. ..."
"After the outbreak, tests demonstrated that siphonage could have led to the elevated fluoride concentration by emptying a full fluoride vat in several minutes."
Hypocalcemia, huh? Might be a problem.
Yeah, supporting the practice of adding bioavailable #fluorine to the diet (and environment) to prevent tooth decay is no longer sustainable. Clinicians and researchers who still want to flog the dead equine are digging themselves deeper in to a hole of no return.
It is not just high #fluoride levels, either. -|- "Epidemiologic investigations and in vivo and in vitro studies based on low fluoride have also confirmed that fluoride not only causes skeletal damage, such as dental fluorosis, ..."
" ... but also causes non-skeletal damage involving the cardiovascular system, nervous system, hepatic and renal function, reproductive system, thyroid function, blood glucose homeostasis, and the immune system." pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35661326/
That is a lot of systems. Is it any wonder, that in the most heavily #fluorine dosed country on Earth that they have such ill health? The USA pays more for health care, gets less for the money. and is sicker than other industrialised countries.

No, no it doesn't. The #prevention of dental disease is in the patients hands, thank goodness. Now if only #Dentistry would get behind #prevention, that would be swell.
Heckuva job, #Doctor.

This is what an ineffective (worthless) #prevention regimen will get you. Instead of decreasing the need for clinical intervention, let's get another set of hands in the patients mouth!
