After 6 years and billions of transaction, @NPCI_NPCI talks about 'consent' while collecting geo-coords for every #UPI txn & gives 6 more months time to make such data collection a choice based consent.

Is there a #GPS coord in India - where @NPCI_NPCI doesn't have txn data

In the light of recent #CrPC91 request - it is valuable to revisit the privacy guarentees in the payment systems and #PaymentsPrivacy is key to having civil liberties and is no longer a niche digital rights problem.

🧵on #UPI frauds. Like all millennials who keep a tab on parents devices occasionally and find strange things on phone, @amabirdman raised an SOS after seeing strange UPI related SMS and was wondering if they were victim of some fraud.
While most of us check for 'auto-installed' apps on mobile, another important thing to check - esp with #UPI fraud is - "Sent SMS". Now android doesn't have recieved / sent SMS seperately, but do stroll messages for any number being sent a message
What ever that number - take that and search on Twitter. For example - if the number is 9717465555 - then search - twitter.com/search?q=97174…

You will see a lot of people having complained about auto-consented SMS sent to HDFC.

Good time to read through the lies, decode and understand #AadhaarSpeak - which is creative form of lies.

1. Ownership structure same as NPCI means - no accountability to public, parliament - while projecting itself as state to businesses and deciding who gets to participate.
ONDC was born out of COVID pivot to "Open Shared Mobility Foundation" - a non-profit by @NandanNilekani that focussed on urban mobility and since COVID lockdown meant mobility will reduce, they pivoted to e-commerce.

It has been practice of @NandanNilekani to lobby government to get himself inserted into committee with his friendly bureaucrat & setup data monopolies. UIDAI, NPCI, GSTN, DBT - All happened through it. Nandan started getting into govt since 2002

Cleaning up laptop, found this August 2018 video. It should have been a story back then, but never pursued after the #Aadhaar SC judgement. You will see bogus entities having names of various places doing eKYC. This was how #eKYC was leaking data

How much is the revenue loss determined by CAG?
1. 637 Crore eKYC x ₹ 20 = ₹ 12740 Crores
2. 2491 authentication x ₹ 0.5 = ₹ 1245.5 Crores

₹ 13985.5 Crores - revenue loss due to non-fixation of price. UIDAI made a "concious" decision to forego the revenue, without any trail ImageImageImage
The @UIDAI justified the loss saying - that is what led to increased usage.

But a small fact - Charging eKYC to private operators has no relation to mandatory #Aadhaar for rations and office attendane (which was made around the same time period) that actually led to higher auth. Image
