While there is a bit of a push in legacy media for remasking in the face of the dreaded 7th wave of B.5, I am not sure it will come to much mid-summer. The hysteria is receding. Which brings up an interesting political issue. 2/ #canpoli

The newly bowl cut Prime Minister of all the Canadas is out on a taxpayer funded pre-campaign, tour. Time honoured tradition. And fun watching the little shit doing campaign style events at undisclosed locations for fear of being "mobbed by supporters". 3/ #canpoli

The epicenter of COVID hysteria is the GTA with a bit of Ottawa and a a bit of Quebec thrown in. These are also the areas in which the word "convoy" summons fever dreams of wild, bearded, insurrectionists holding Canada's capital hostage, just like Jan 6 in the US. 4/ #canpoli

But there is a shortening window when that will remain true. Torontonians are idiots, but lunacy fades and Trudeau needs it in full spate to eke out a minority. Worse, if @PierrePoilievre wins the @CPC_HQ leadership, he has an actual opponent. What to do? 5/ #canpoli

Well, going out and meeting a tiny number of pre-screened people for the B-roll on the campaign ads is not at all a bad idea. Keeps the options open. But he has to decide quickly if he wants to keep the all important Karen vote. 6/ #canpoli

The wheels have fallen off the COVID narrative. The vax is disappointing, mandates have caused nothing but chaos, 50% of the jabbed won't take the booster, the boosted are getting sick more than the unvaxed: even with legacy media cheerleading, it's a tough sell. 7/ #canpoli

In two and a half years, COVID will be a dead letter and the lawsuits will be coming in their hundreds. It will no longer be an issue to rally the Karens. It will be pitchforks and torches in the foyers of PHO across the country as people die. 8/ #canpoli

Call an election in the Fall and Trudeau will be able to ask for a mandate for one more push against the virus. In a couple of years he'd be laughed off the stage, if not worse. 9/ #canpoli

The problem with politicizing masks, jabs, mandates, passports is that, when they don't work and are seen not to work, you own it. The people who run Trudeau know this and realize they have, maybe, six months before the population wakes up. 10/ #canpoli

If @PierrePoilievre wins and can make a deal with Max to ensure maximum voting efficiency, Trudeau will face a real opponent pretty much for the first time. (Harper was real enough, but lots of baggage...same as Trudeau.) 11/ #canpoli

My sense is that the Libs want to run against COVID not @PierrePoilievre and #PPC united. To do that they have to go early. November election (unnecessary as the last one) is my current bet. Which will spoil my deep hibernation, damnit! 12/12 #Canpoli
