There is an animal rescue in #Vancouver that is refusing to adopt animals to trans people, and is planning to euthanize a cat rather than adopt to a trans woman who has been fostering him.
Folks, for those who are asking me to name and shame publicly immediately: my first priority is to prevent this ‘rescue’ (run by one person) from spite-killing this cat. Once I get the cat to safety, I can do more.
The trans woman who is fostering this cat is now also willing to talk to media about this situation.
Here is Muttaz, the cat who has been taken - FROM THE VET, where his foster took him because he was sick - by the ‘rescue’.
- the rescue claims they won’t euthanize the cat *for illness*, but refuse to answer whether they will euthanize him *at all*
- they FINALLY used she/her for the foster in emails instead of ‘this person’, ‘the individual’, ‘they’ - but now won’t respond
Updates:
- The ‘rescue’ STILL will not tell us where Muttaz is or whether he is being treated for his FIP relapse.
- The foster is being harassed by anti-trans activists.
- We are now talking to media.
- DMs are open if you want the name of the rescue.
Update:
We have now tried to get someone with major expertise in FIP involved, to explain to the ‘rescue’ that Muttaz needs care (the care they denied him) or he will die.
Silence.
The rescue is Cat Therapy and Rescue Society.
As far as I know, they are letting Muttaz die.
Literally, it seems that the woman who runs CTRS has decided to let Muttaz die out of spite because she’s mad that the foster called her out on renovating her own house while claiming she didn’t have the resources to get cats lifesaving vet care.
Can you imagine?? Shameful.
BIG UPDATE:
Instead of responding to me or the foster by email about Muttaz, the rescue has made a Twitter account to argue with people.
Here’s my response to their tweet at me.
(I have all the receipts to back up everything here.)
Instead of telling anyone whether Muttaz is alive and being treated for FIP, the rescue is spending its time being nasty to the foster and calling her a ‘scam artist’.
I can’t even make this up.
Meanwhile, we still don’t know if Muttaz is okay.
Update:
The ‘rescue’ that took Muttaz from a loving home and is, afaik, letting him die, STILL will not answer whether he is alive.
Seems CTRS (@Ctrsbc) is deliberately harming trans ppl & allies by withholding info.
Still no word about Muttaz. But we’ve discovered that CTRS (@Ctrsbc) seems from the Google reviews to be implicated in other heartbreaking dead-cat situations, due to poor care: google.com/maps/reviews/d…
(They accuse it of being a ‘smear campaign’ too. Familiar.)
Oh, hey, look. BC “#catrescue” Cat Therapy and Rescue Society (@Ctrsbc) won’t tell us if they’ve killed Muttaz, but they have the time to like a bunch of #transphobic tweets, including one that accuses us of playing a ‘trans card’.
I’m sure these sponsors of @Ctrsbc wouldn’t want to be associated with a ‘rescue’ that exhibits transphobic and threatening behaviour towards a trans foster, and won’t confirm that it didn’t euthanize a cat rather than adopt that cat to a trans woman.
An email from CTRS on August 5, denying that they would euthanize Muttaz for FIP.
They lied about that. They lied about putting $ towards care for FIP cats. They lied about contacting the foster (though this is the ONE time they used her pronouns) and lied about neglect.

So here’s the thing about the ‘no excuses’, ‘always hustle’ bullshit; the refusal to recognize that people - even neuroatypical folks, or those with a chronic illness or disability - have limits.
We KNOW people have limits.
The evidence? Video games.
Let me explain.
1/n
In every game ever made, there’s a recognition of limits. Look at, I don’t know, Super Mario World for the NES as an early game. Mario jumps into a pit? He dies. He hits a Goomba? He dies. There are places he can’t go, no matter how much he wants to or how much he tries.

But I’m thinking more about modern games.
Think about the Final Fantasy series. You have HP and MP. If you run out of MP, you can’t cast any more spells unless you eat or drink the right things, or you rest. If you run out of HP, you faint.
But I also want to talk about the finances of another con run by Thai Pham, their finance guy. (Thread)

(Remember that Pham was also head of PrideCon, which cancelled a week before and kept $15,000, and senior in TouhouCon, which promised to pay for talent’s hotel rooms and... didn’t.)
