Another temple complex from Gujarat.

The Sonkansari group of temples in Ghumali. Ghumali (the ancient Bhutambalika) a village located 45 km from Porbandar, at foothills of Barda, in Dwarka district of Gujarat.

While many of the temples of Sonkansari group are of the Maitraka dynasty, the main temple is likely to have been built by the Guptas. From a Junagadh inscription of 475-58 CE (reign of Skanda Gupta) that refers to the building of a Visnu temple at or in the vicinity of Gimar.

Matching this description, a short distance from the city ruins of Ghumali, 400 ft above ground level, stands a group of temples that are locally called as “Sonkansari’s temples”. Here the central temple faces east and its simplicity suggests that it could be a Gupta temple
