#Georgia_EU: The EU published the results on the annual implementation of the Association Agreement by the government of Georgia. Progress is also assessed through the lens of the EU's application conditions. Several highlights:⤵️
1) Brussels demands results both in the Association Agreement and in the potential status of EU candidacy; 2) Three areas stand out as priorities: the rule of law, governance and human rights (in fact, these are conditions, but the EU uses the jargon of “priorities”);⤵️
3) The EU wants an inclusive reform process, hinting at the need to involve the opposition and civil society (NB: It will be curious to see if the EU will ask the same inclusiveness from the government of Moldova,⤵️
which has a selective approach towards civil society civil with which it works and ignores the opposition, including extra-parliamentary pro-EU forces).

#Russia_VisaBan: Finland suggests a new mechanism that would slow down the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens. The idea would be to apply for the tourist visa only on Monday and from Tuesday to Friday all other types of visa (related to family, study etc.).⤵️
On the other hand, Denmark supports Estonia and Lithuania in applying a (indiscriminate) visa ban on Russian citizens. However, the Danish side is of the opinion that such a measure makes sense if applied throughout the Schengen area.⤵️
If the ban is not in effect in all 26 Schengen states, Russian citizens can circumvent the visa ban by traveling by land, rail, or sea from one country to another on a Schengen visa issued by non-ban supporters (such as Hungary). etc.).⤵️

#Ukraine: The situation around the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhzhia may become critical without permanent access to energy. This issue is unfolding without a due attention and sense of urgency. It requires parallel political int. attention. A pessimist scenario that⤵️
cannot be ruled out is that of threatening or even provoking a small-scale and more manageable Chernobyl-like-disaster. It can be triggered by Russia in the following circumstances: 1) Ukraine's counteroffensive is carried out efficiently in the following weeks;⤵️
2) Putin decides to use the nuclear crises as a deterrent against the Ukrainian efforts to return under control its territories occupied by Russia; 3) Similar to the “grains deal”, Russia is using the potential nuclear crisis to force the EU and US to request negotiations and ⤵️

#Moldova: The government is introducing new rules for the travel of separatist regime officials through Moldova's international airport in Chisinau. This rule does not apply to ordinary citizens. However, the separatist regime administration described the new measures as⤵️
restrictions on the free movement of people from Transnistria. This comes some time after the Moldovan authorities banned the entry of Russian military personnel who are not part of the peacekeeping mission's operations. In addition, this occurs after Russia applied⤵️
restrictions on the import of agri-food goods due to alleged sanitary and phytosanitary irregularities. Anyway, Chisinau’s actions don’t look like retaliation, although Russia’s restrictions affected producers from 31 out of 34 regions of Moldova (except⤵️

#Russia_Sanctions: My proposal for the visa ban sanctions effervescently promoted in recent days: 1) several waves of visa bans starting with judges, prosecutors, etc. (all those who work for the Putin’s system);⤵️
2) the visa must not be restricted in any way for opposition journalists, persecuted NGOs, young people studying in the West with liberal backgrounds etc.;⤵️
3) no mobility restrictions for those in point 2 who are involved in permanent or temporary mobility within and outside the EU (involving transit countries);⤵️

#China: Latvia and Estonia are breaking away from the BRI platform. Riga declares that it will cooperate bilaterally and through the EU with China, ensuring that human rights and the rules-based international order are respected. Several remarks:⤵️
1) It seems that the decision of the two Baltic countries has to do with Chinese harsh actions and discourse (about “reeducation” of the Taiwanese after the island is occupied) against Taiwan after Pelosi's visit;⤵️
2) The Taiwanese representation in Vilnius has strengthened the diplomatic dialogue with the Baltic, Scandinavian and other EU states and the decision of the Estonia-Latvia duo also shows this;⤵️

#Moldova: Russia is recruiting citizens of Moldova and Russia to serve under contract in the Russian Operational Group of the Russian Forces (Military Unit 13962), based in the Transnistria region. Advertising flyers are placed online and in public spaces in the ⤵️
separatist region (bus stops, etc.). This group supplies some 1,500 people who are illegally stationed in the separatist region. RISE's investigation reveals the following facts: 1) Along with citizens from all over the territory of Moldova, Russia is also recruiting Russian ⤵️
citizens (including those residing in Siberia), aged between 18 and 45; 2) The recruited individuals will be able to open a bank account in Russian banks, where they will receive money for the mortgage in Russia; 3) To be accepted, the applicant must submit a Russian ⤵️
