Jewish Voice for Peace Action is proud and honored to endorse @RashidaTlaib's resolution recognizing the Nakba. 🧵
In order to build a future rooted in justice and freedom for all, we must reckon with the destruction and permanent displacement Palestinians suffered in 1948 in the name of creating the State of Israel.
Without addressing the Nakba and the ongoing attempts by the Israeli government to continue displacing Palestinians to this day, there cannot be a truly just and sustainable peace.

Only a violent and fundamentally flawed system prioritizes military spending over people, and pits communities against one another. Today’s spending bill in Congress does just that. 🧵

Today’s bill supports the rights of some while funding the oppression of others: desperately needed aid to Ukrainian refugees & funding for US communities, but a sky-high Pentagon budget & $5B to Israel’s apartheid regime that created hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees
Pitting communities against each other is not justice.

Whether here in the US, Ukrainians fleeing Russian violence or Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid, all people deserve safety & freedom.

This is a critically important move from @JamaalBowmanNY that sends a clear message: Trump-era weapons deals with authoritarian regimes are not about a just peace and they're at odds with everything progressives are fighting for. Every progressive should join in this 'no' vote.
.@CoriBush is also opposing the bill because it “incentivizes neighboring nations to isolate the Palestinian people and ignore Israel’s apartheid rule.”
