🚨Teesta Setalvad’s bail plea in Supreme Court —-
Setalvad has been accused of manipulating evidence to frame innocent people in the riots that engulfed Gujarat post the Godhra Carnage in 2002.
Yesterday, Gujarat Government had pointed out that there was an attempt to put Setalvad in the “special category” & that she had already elected to choose her remedy before High Court — to bypass this would set a wrong precedent.

BREAKING: Advocate @AshwiniUpadhyay tells #DelhiHighCourt that the Court cannot be mute
spectator if followers of Indian religions are being converted to foreign religion by force, allurement.

Upadhyay filed additional affidavit in his plea against forceful religious conversion
Upadhyay submits that "religious conversion by intimidating, threatening and
deceivingly luring through gifts and monetary benefits is an offence
Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) but not in adjoining East Delhi."
He argues that similarly, religious conversion using black magic and superstition
is offence in Gurugram and Faridabad but not in adjoining West
and South Delhi, which not only contrary to the Articles 14 but is also
conflicting to the principles of secularism and rule of law.

BREAKING: Due to difference in opinion before another bench, Sr. Adv. Dave mentions this case before #CJI led bench now.

The #CJI led bench is now hearing the case. Bench says it is appropriate for this to go before a 3-judge bench which does not include Justice Dhulia (having been party to it earlier).
#CJI says the case can be put up in a few minutes by another bench which may be constituted.
The bench has risen, has communicated to the lawyers that it intends to come back in a few minutes to check if other judges are available to hear this.

#SupremeCourt hearing plea over the issue of reservation.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta seeks adjournment stating that the matter has been listed after long time.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan appearing for the petitioner submits, If the Dalit Christians and Dalit Hindus are also provided the reservation, then the Dalit Christians who are usually better educated they'll corner the recruitment.
