Disclaimer: I base my graphs off of Alberta Health's raw data. The data they release weekly includes changes made to past weeks. I update my graphs to reflect those changes which is why my numbers may be different than others. #COVID19AB#Yeg

I only monitor modifications to death data for the current year of 2022, but it's more than likely ones prior to 2022 get retroactively updated as well. (The most up to date data is reflected on my long term daily graphs though) #COVID19AB

Last weeks hospitalizations were retroactively modified from 883 up to 895. #COVID19AB#Yeg

Daily hospitalizations and ICU
Average monthly hospitalizations compared year over year. August's average now includes up until August 29th so it's becoming a more accurate reflection. The numbers this month are much more comparable to September last year than August of 2021.
Average monthly ICU patients compared year over year. August's average now includes up until August 29th so it's becoming a more accurate reflection.
Actual number of deaths per month, year over year. After this week, this month now has more deaths than last month, and more than both August 2021 and 2020. But other than January, this year has had more deaths every month than other years.
Hope this helps.

The AB gov has released new data which shows that 2023 had the highest number of drug-poisoning deaths on record with 2,051. That's on average, six Albertans fatally overdosing per day and a 17% increase compared to 2022. #opioids #overdose #ab #alberta #edmonton #yyc
91% involved opioids however 88% involved non-pharmaceutical opioids defined by the government as fentanyl (and analogues), heroin and designer opiates. #opioids #overdose #ab #alberta #edmonton #yyc
2023 saw a 22% increase in opioid (both pharma and non-pharma) related deaths compared to 2022, making 2023 a record breaking year for the number of opioid-related deaths in Alberta as well. #opioids #overdose #ab #alberta #edmonton #yyc
Today the AB Gov released the following data saying there's a positive trend when it comes to overdose deaths.
-Since 2018 deaths from pharmaceutical opioids have been reduced by 70%
-Since 2021 deaths from methamphetamine have been reduced by 41%
#alberta #opioids #ab #abpoli
-Since 2021 deaths from cocaine have been reduced by 61%
-Since 2021 deaths from alcohol have been reduced by 60%
-Since 2017 deaths from benzos have been reduced by 33%
Now what is VERY important to note with this data set is that they are referring to pharmaceutical opioids ONLY.
The definition according to the provinces dashboard is 'Typically prescribed opioids, like codeine, hydromorphone, methadone'.

How to act around #servicedogs from the wife of a #veteran
🧵: My husband served 2 tours in Afghanistan as a tank driver with the #CAF. He joined when he was only 17 and served for over 7 years. He has very severe #PTSD, we’ve been told by VA case managers that he has one of 1/13
the most severe cases in Canada by their disability standards.
My husband got a PTSD service dog after being on a waiting list for 6 years.
Before he got a service dog I had no idea the sorts of things both he and I would experience and how it was like to have one.
2/13
On a daily basis people try to touch his dog without asking.
People follow us around to watch them work. People stand too close. They stare. They take photos.
There are people who deliberately try to get his dog to misbehave by creating distractions. 3/13
