There was nothing intentional about missing the 2022 ballot. They turned in their signatures too close to the deadline, and the letter from the SoS starting the 30-working day clock for counties to verify the signatures didn't go out until May 19th. elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/ccrov/2022/may…
The 30 working day deadline fell on July 1st, the day after the cutoff for the 2022 ballot. Most counties finished ahead of schedule, but enough didn't to prevent it from having the necessary signatures by close of business on June 30th.

Missed this last night...Newsom recall candidate @CaitlynJenner, currently taking a break from the campaign trail to film a reality show in Australia, raised $737,385 for her gubernatorial campaign, burned through $910.2K, and ended July with $21,568 remaining & $156.4K in debt.
Looks like Caitlyn Jenner's biggest expenditures were to WinRed (a large portion of which went towards campaign merch from Ace Specialties), Jamestown Associates (mainly Facebook ads), Fabrizio Lee & Associates for polling, and to Brad Parscale.
Jenner's team has put more effort into selling campaign merch than towards putting her name in contention to be considered for the CA GOP's endorsement.
