It is a sacred mandir for hindus which is dedicated to Mahadev. It is situated on a hill at a height of 1330 mtrs. It is surrounded by dense forests and is adjacent to the mountain ranges of Nar-Narayan.
When Samudra manthan were jointly done by asuras and devtas.
Many valuables emerged from the ocean, which were divided by the devas and the asuras. Then poison appeared and no one had that power to consume it.
Only dev adi dev mahadev have that power. So he consumed the poison that appeared from the 'Sagar Manthan'. He had saved the brahmand. when all were behind the Amrit he drank halahal.
After drinking the poison, Mahadev's throat turned blue and since then, Mahadev is also known as 'Neelkantha' (The one having blue throat).
The place where the Neelkanth Mahadev mandir currently stands is the sacred location where #Mahadev consumed the poison.
The mandir has an ancient architecture and a very beautiful complex, comprising of a one natural spring where devotees take a holy bath before entering the premises of the temple. The sanctum sanctorum of the mandir houses a ‘Shiv Lingam in a phallic form.

During winters the vigraha is carried down to Ukhimath and where vigrah is worshiped for the next 6 months.
Every year on the day of Mahashivratri,the day and shubh muhrat of opening the "Kapat" is decided.
The Baan Stambh (Arrow Pillar) is located within the premises of the mandir. It is believed to be constructed in somewhere the sixth century. It tells us that there is no piece of land from here to south pole.
From this point at the Somnath Mandir to the #SouthPole in Antarctica there is no land mass, if one travels through the sea.
It was constructed during the reign of Hoysala King Vinayaditya around 1100 AD.
It is east-west orientation, on plan has a Garbhagriha, a vestibule and an indented square Sikhara and Sukasana. There are 5 entrances to the Mukhamantapa. Lateral entrances are provided in addition to the conventional northern, southern and eastern entrances.

3. कीर्ति- यश प्रसिद्धि- जिसके मान-सम्मान व यश की कीर्ति से चारों दिशाओं में गूंजती हो। लोग जिसके प्रति स्वत: ही श्रद्घा व विश्वास रखते हों।
4.वाणी सम्मोहन
श्री कृष्ण की वाणी सुनकर क्रोधी व्यक्ति भी अपना सुध-बुध खोकर शांत हो जाता था। मन में भक्ति की भावना भर उठती थी।
