How #Carnivore healed my gut, depression, and a life altering injury.

Sharing my experience to help others through similar challenges and find what they're truly capable of.

This is my story, notes, and resources from 14+ months of strict carnivore

3 years ago I had extreme challenges:

- anxiety
- burnt out
- joints ached
- bloated after every meal
- lethargic throughout the day
- wake time 2+ hours and 3+ cups of coffee

I looked healthy, felt horrible, and needed help, fast.
I fell down the #PlantBased documentary rabbit hole

While highlighting factory farming issues, they spread a biased and unsupported science on plants providing optimal nutrition, masked in ethics.

If we eat meat, not only is it unhealthy for us/planet... we're bad people.
I experimented with a variety of strict diets for 2+ months each, without benefit (actually made symptoms worse)

- Vegetarian and Vegan (worst symptoms)
- Whole food plant-based
- Low FODMAP

I tried any cleanse, supplement, probiotic, or niche trend that promised results.
During this year of plant-based experiments I had a low spinal injury which limited me from walking for 3 months (convinced the diets contributed).

20% muscle loss right leg. Reduced to crutches. It was the lowest point of my life, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
I was injured, miserable, and getting worse eating vegan. I was willing to try anything.

My friend was healing his auto-immune disease (psoriasis) with carnivore. He was feeling incredible.

Starting #carnivore was best decision of my life.

Jordan had already impacted my life profoundly and this video helped me believe it was a worthwhile experiment. I listened on repeat for motivation.

During my #carnivore experiment I tracked objective health data to rule out placebo as much as possible:

In the first 48 hours my symptoms started improving:
- Anxiety decreased

- Higher sleep quality (RHR and HRV)

- Less joint pain

What time I ate on #carnivore

Usually two meals a day, or whenever I was hungry

Hunger is directly linked to satiety, eating nutrient dense meats and organs creates satiation

*Caveat* you may feel very hungry when you first start carnivore. Your body is craving nutrients, EAT
How much I was eating on #carnivore

Target = 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (or desired weight)

I’m 175lbs, so 175 grams of protein per day.

There's about 100g of protein in 1lb of meat, so my target was just under 2lbs of meat.

Start with @butcherbox for ease
2:1 fat to protein (in grams) intake on Carnivore.

Eat fatty cuts of meat or 80/20 ground beef.

White = fat

This may seem like a lot of fat, remember zero carbs.

Once we hit our protein threshold, we need to get energy from fat.
Fasting on Carnivore helped with digestion, lose fat, and get better sleep.

I prefer and 8 hour eating window, and upon waking, so 8am - 5pm.

This is called eTRF (early time restricted feeding) Increase time between digestion and sleep.

After my first 30 days on carnivore, I was convinced I found a panacea.

All of my symptoms were improving.

I didn't know this level of health was possible.

It also had a side benefit of bringing family and friends together.
My (overweight) western MD said my cholesterol was too high and recommended I start a statin, at 30 years old.

Testosterone is the key hormone for men.

Higher T means greater health across the board

These are my blood results after 6 and 12 months of #carnivore

I worked with a local ND to analyze the results

His response "highest natural Testosterone I've ever seen"
Over the next 13 months on #Carnivore:

- Healed my back
- Re-built my leg & re-learned to walk
- Added muscle mass
- Increased testosterone
- Better sleep
- Skin cleared
- Deepened relationships
- Increased self awareness

It was more than a way to eat, it became a way of life
