Here we go again! The 1922 committee will stop at nothing to get their man Rishi as PM. What is playing out now is a conspiracy to bring down #Truss by MPs loyal to Rishi supported by the 1922 committee. They will stop at nothing until their man is the leader. 1/10
There is no way Rishi can become Prime Minister without the help and support of the 1922 committee, as they control the rules and the processes to elect a new leader. 2/10
The big problem is that Rishi is not popular with the members who have already rejected him as their leader. So 1922 will have to elect Rishi by blocking member's votes and eliminating them from the leadership campaign. 3/10
To do this the 1922 committee will change the rules or manipulate the process to circumvent the members from electing the new leader, which would be anti-democratic and a blatant disregard for the member's rights! But that won't stop them! 4/10
#truss needs to head this off, but her options are limited. She is up against the system and effectively #1922committee can do what they want. But she has options. #truss and her team need to look at the weaknesses of 1922 and Rishi supporters. 5/10
The biggest fear and weakness of #1922 and #Rishi is #borisjohnson and his popularity within the membership and the electorate at large, and the structure of the Conservative Party, which could be changed to reduce the powers of 1922 and transfer them back to members. 6/10
I believe the best option for #truss is to work with Boris, to allow Boris to return as the leader with #truss getting a key job in the new cabinet. There could be a run-off between #rishi and #borisjohnson for the members to decide. There would only be one winner #boris. 7/10
I know how to change the structure of the Party, to return powers back to members and I will help with this. But for #truss to survive she needs to act quickly as the #cabal is coming for her and she only has weeks to survive. #truss you need to take control. 8/10
#truss you are under pressure today, but you are still in control and hold power for a limited period. It's now time to use that power and head off the people that are after you. Who forced our democratically elected leader to resign. 9/10
It is time to do the right thing for our party and for the country who voted for #borisjohnson. Now that would be true leadership. 10/10
As reported in Saturday's Times Newspaper: The former deputy chief whip at the centre of the sleaze scandal that led to Boris Johnson’s downfall will not be investigated by the parliamentary watchdog over claims that he groped a young man. 1/12
Chris Pincher, who was the Conservative MP for Tamworth but sits as an independent after his suspension from the party, was reported to parliament’s Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) in June by a young man who accused him of groping. 2/12
So Boris was forced out by an event that will not be investigated! But why didn't MPs wait for the inquiry before they forced a sitting Prime Minister to resign?
Because it was a useful tool for a small cabal of MPs to remove our democratically elected Prime Minister. 3/12
Liz Truss is now Prime Minister but the facts are that she became the PM without a general election, because Boris was forced to resign by a small cabal of MPs. This is despite winning a VONC and having been elected by a vast majority at the last General Election. 1/10
Boris was removed undemocratically, by MPs who claimed to have lost confidence in him. But was this the real reason? Or was it MPs trying to change the leadership for their own personal reasons with a total disregard for the British Electorate and Party members?
2/10
In every round of the leadership contest, Rishi Sunak was backed by more MPs than any other candidate. Including the vast majority of the 1922 committee.
Conservative Party Members have through the constitutional structure, the power to change how the Conservative Party is run, to change the board, the constitution, the way leaders are elected, the role of MPs (within the Party) leadership campaigns, and much more besides. 1/14
The Conservative Party board runs most key areas of the Party but there are constant skirmishes between members, associations, voluntary service, and the board. Members feel disenfranchised over many issues, candidate selection is just one that springs to mind. 2/14
One member summed it up when he said that the Conservative Party board has hijacked the Party and members have no influence. It is the overpowering centralised control of CCHQ in London that is the main issue. 3/14
Yesterday I spoke about the amazing contribution Boris Johnson has made to the income of the Conservative Party and on the loss of that asset and the income stream. 1/21
As a businessman and if I was board member, before the loss of Boris, my immediate response would be to consider the financial consequences of that loss on the net worth of the Party and the “going concern” or ability of the Party to operate as a going concern going forward 2/21
without its “Golden Goose” or major assets. These would be my first thoughts if I was on the board of the Conservative Party. 3/21
Yesterday I made a number of observations on the financial benefits of having Boris as our leader as reflected in the Party financial statements. Now, let’s put some basic numbers to that for context.
In 2017 the membership income was £835k, in 2020 it was £2million. That’s the 140% increase.Thats the “Boris Bounce”!
In 2016 there was a general election with Mrs May, remember that!
The party raised £34million from donors to help finance the election and the Party.
In 2019 election the Boris Johnson election with him as leader, a whopping £56 million was raised!!
That’s the “Boris Bounce”!
But there’s more!
Can the Conservative Party survive without Boris?
The latest financial accounts available for the Conservative Party year ended 31st December 2020, meaning the 2021 accounts late for filing with the electoral commission (7/7/22). 1/8
The purpose of looking at the financial statements is to value the “financial Boris bounce” enjoyed by the party since 2017 and whether this is a matter of concern for the financial future of the Conservative Party. 2/8
Bringing to attention that in the premature dismissal Boris who is without doubt the “financial golden goose” the Party may be bringing about its own financial ruin.
