The Sunset of the Hosted Service 🌅

After 4-years of supporting #subgraphs for web3 dApps, the Hosted Service will begin its sunset during Q1 2023 with dApps migrating to the Decentralized Network for supported chains.

The free Hosted Service will continue to exist as a dev system for all chains that are in the process of being migrated to the Decentralized Network. Today @ethereum and @gnosischain are fully supported.

Firehose from @PinaxNetwork enables indexers to scale more efficiently and process more subgraphs.

It’s the next evolution of indexing at The Graph, crucial for indexing chains such as @ArweaveTeam, @solana and @NEARProtocol.

Substreams from @streamingfastio makes indexing speeds up to 100x faster for subgraphs.

Indexing blockchain data is the core functionality of The Graph Network, and for this reason it must be an extremely fast operation to execute.

Instead of performing a linear indexing model, Substreams move to a parallelized model that dramatically increases the speed of syncing and indexing. Substreams works in conjunction with Firehose.

Moving to Layer-2 with @Arbitrum will create huge opportunity to grow @graphprotocol network.

This is extremely important for Indexers to improve their profitability, and as well for Curators and Delegators.
