1/7 🧵 about the air defenses located at Dzankoj military airbase in Crimea. Due to the arrival of Iranian Sahed-136 drones me and other #OSINT researchers were looking at different loc. which could be used to launch these. #Dzankoj airbase was one of the most likely candidates.
2/7 Located about 300 km. from Odessa, it would be well in reach of the drones. However on the airbase it self we found no evidence of it being used to launch these attacks. What did stand out was a large contigent of airdefense units, S-300 & the more modern S-400 launchers.
3/7 While have a closer look, we discovered at least 10 TEL's (transporter erector launcher) at this location, as well as multiple state of the art radar systems connect to those systems. Also a large number of missile canisters can be seen. These are used for quick reloads.
4/7 But to truly get a feel for how these airbases work, it is very important to re-visit these bases on a regular basis to for example see how supply's are distributed on the base, count the number of planes on the ground etc. When revisiting the site on 13-10 we noticed that
5/7 two S-300 battery's consisting of 8 launchers & support vehicles were gone, back tracking we found out that on 7-10 these were still here and on 8-10 they were gone. Due to the time stamps on those images they must have moved between 12:00 & 08:00, we determined there are
6/7 2 possible routes toward either Kherson on the E97 HWY or toward Melitopol on the E105 HWY. The timing of the move of those units, is particularly interesting, only 2 days later on 10-10 the large missile & drone strikes on Ukrainian city's started. We will try to keep track
7/7 of these and other weapon systems.Another 🧵 about Dzankoj airbase is coming up soon🙏research work is done in collaboration with @DefMon3, @COUPSURE and @ArtisanalAPT. Please consider making a donation to help us buy 🛰 images
🧵 Since 13 september when UK intelligence reported iranian drones (Shahed-136) were active in Ukraïne since then many attacks occured, at first mainly in the Odessa direction & now all over the country. Because long range and mobility, launch locations would be hard to find
Strong indications were these attacks originated from Crimea, most likely from known mil. sites where they would operate without being spotted by civilians who could report the location to 🇺🇦 intelligence. After checking these sites all over Crimea we found something interesting
At the radar site of Mayak [45.346067, 32.523761] between 9 & 13 sept. 2 distinct white objects appeared. These objects measured 12×2.5 which seemed to match known images of the trailer. Also they seemed te be connected to a smaller object just outside the perimiter of the base.
With 🇺🇦 advancing all over NE Kherson, and steadily closing in on Nova Khakova with the dam over the Dnipro river. Questions arise where could 🇷🇺 retreating forces try to make a stand. We have been monitoring this area and have seen an increase in activity around the dam.
As you can see 🇷🇺 have established a whole ring of defensive works, which they began building end of July. This makes lead to believe that they were allready getting ready for an eventual retreat & defense of the area. As can be seen the at the entrance road to the dam itself.
Just outside Vesele near the gas station on the E58 highway the town on the N side of the dam on the a large trench area can be seen as well as multiple vehicle dugin positions, these pos. are linked to pos. to the easteren side of town. This is probably the last line of defense
Yesterday we got word of 🇺🇦 forces liberating Zolota Balka, right now however we can confirm that they secured the towns of Myroliubivka, Lyubymivka which had been contested since middle of august, also we have visual confirmation that 🇺🇦 troops entered Khreschenivka ⬇️
To do this 🇺🇦 forces had to break the 🇷🇺 defenses @ the T2207 highway around Petrivka. On 31-08 🇺🇦 forces tried to break the line here but failed, but managed to degrade defenses here,IMO this combined with interdicted supply routes let to the failure of 🇷🇺defenses yesterday.
The Zolota Balka def. where located on the hills east of town, with a view of the T0403 highway, harder to approach then the def. at Petrivka, as these were broken, Zolota balka became a pocket for 🇷🇺 forces, the only way out would be under 🇺🇦 fire covering the T-0403.
Last week the 🇺🇦 forces started an unpresedented #HIMARS campaign on the 🇷🇺 supply hub Svatove. In 2 days at least 5 seperate targets where hit in & around Svatove. This town was a supply hub for the Lyman & Kupiansk front.1 strike took out the command of the 144th regiment.
In addition to this strike which was a blow to the combat effectiveness of the 144th regiment, for other supply area's were hit. Two of those were located in Svatove itself the other 2 north & south of town.
One was located on the East side of town at what seems to be a farm complex of some kind.Geolocation of the complex is [49.418245, 38.177272]. As is visible a single hit struck the roof area collapsing it.
Some more info on the artillery strike on the HQ of 144th motorized rifle division located at Svatove came out. In this attack the commander was killed aswell as serveral of his staff. rumor say maybe even 100+ KIA and numerous vehicles destroyed
The attack happend most likely in the morning of 20th sept. & was devastating destroying almost 10 buildings. Most likely this was a coordinated HIMARS attack looking at the almost surgical precision some buildings were hit, and other buildings remained intact.
To make the kind of destruction even more visual, @bradyafr created an animation of the actual damage done to the whole complex. As you can see almost the whole complex was leveled which might also been due to secundairy explosions of stored ammo.
Part II of the Myrne supply route saga. As told before me and other #OSINT researchers have been working on identifing supply routes and warehouses used by 🇷🇺. We found 1 in town of Myrne, Cherson see below⬇️. This is what we found after more backtracking
When checking sat. images from early september we found also that they were using the eastern area of the station, which we hadnt seen before in earlier images. This made us believe that after the attack on Brylivka this is now the main supply hub in N Kherson.
When looking at footage from 7-09 & 24-9 we noticed a number of trucks (Kamaz & Ural) backed against railway boxcars being unloaded and leaving the yard toward the road to Chaplynka, where the forward 🇷🇺 helicopter base is located.
