#Dhanteras2022 Dhanteras (Dhan represents riches, and Teras denotes the 13th day), also called Dhanvantri Trayodashi and Dhanatrayodashi. Dhanteras marks the beginning of the five-day festival of Deepavali. Today people buy utensils, jewelry, vehicles, and home appliances, since
it is considered auspicious to buy metals on Dhanteras. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped today for happiness, prosperity and wealth. The house is cleaned and decorated for Her arrival and Puja is done in the evening. Kubera is also worshipped today. On this day, traders worship
their books of account and pray for business success to Kubera the god of wealth. This day is also dedicated to lord of medicine Sri Dhanvantri. Today is the day when Mahalaksmi and Dhanvantri came out of the milky ocean. Another deity who is worshipped today is Lord Yamaraj.
There is a reason behind the worship of Yama. King Hima’s son, whose horoscope predicted that he would die on the 4th day after his marriage because of a snake bite. On hearing this, his wife decided to change her husband’s fate. She ensured that her husband didn’t sleep on the
4th day of their marriage by narrating stories and keeping him awake. To deceive the snake, she made a pile of all her coins and ornaments at their bedroom entrance and lit several lamps. When the god of death arrived disguised as a snake, he couldn’t see anything due to the
brightness of the lights and the metals. Lord Yama stayed the entire night and left without killing King Hima’s son. For this reason, Dhanteras is also known as Yamadepdaan, where people offer earthen lamps to Lord Yama to pray for the long lives of their family. Dhanteras is not
celebrated by south Indians but is a popular Hindu festival in the north. Yellow colour is the colour loved by Goddess Lakshmi and so Saffron Kheer is offered to Her on this day. If not Kheer, one can make Laddoo. Anyway making sweets for Deepavali like in the south starts today.
Wishing all of you a #happydhanteras and a very #Happydeepawali Let us light lamps and burst crackers and wear new clothes as per our custom and tradition!

#MahaPeriyava This incident was narrated by Mukkur Srinivasa Varadacharyar Swamigal, the man responsible for Ashtalakshmi Temple in Chennai. This was about 35 years ago. MahaPeriyava was staying in Chennai for a few months, blessing people and giving discourses. He continued his
yatra and stayed for a few days in a brick tiles manufacturing factory at Noombal in the Poonamallee high road. I went to have darshan of Paramacharya one evening, accompanied by a Sethji from Calcutta who was a wealthy philanthropist. In the usual way I prostrated to the Sage,
and Sethji did in a similar manner. I joined my palms and stood meekly. Looking at us once and raising his head, Paramacharya asked, "You told me earlier once, was it about this man?" He was matchless in his memory power. I agreed to his words quietly. Let me tell about Sethji.
#HappyDeepavali#HappyDiwali Once, it so happened that Lord Krishna was standing in front of the mirror adorning himself. He was trying on different crowns on his head and putting on some fine jewelry while his charioteer waited outside with the chariot ready.
His charioteer
waited and waited and thought to himself – usually Krishna comes immediately, today he has still not come. So, out of curiosity he went inside to find out if the program was still on because Krishna was very unpredictable, anytime anything could change. So, the charioteer goes
inside and he sees Lord Krishna standing in front of the mirror admiring himself. He politely asked, “My dear Lord, tell me, why are you dressing up so much today. Where are we going?”Lord Krishna said, “I am going to meet Duryodhana.”
The charioteer said, “You are dressing up so
All #Hindu festivities have now become festivals celebrated by atheists, people not following any denomination, above all followed by other religious people! This is the current alarming trend. Let me narrate and reiterate why we celebrate Deepavali/Diwali. This #HinduFestival
symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance". It is a Festival of Lights as the name suggests. In North India it is associated with Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity and Ganesha, god of wisdom and the remover of obstacles,
with many other regional traditions connecting it to Sita and Rama, Vishnu, Krishna, Durga, Shiva, Kali, Hanuman, Kubera, Yama, Yami, Dhanvantari, or Vishvakarma. It is a celebration of the day Rama returned to his kingdom in Ayodhya with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana

#FoodForThought Never compare one’s self with others. X takes 30 minutes to walk a distance of 2kms. Y takes 15 minutes to cross the same distance. Who is fitter? Of course the answer will be Y. But then you say X walked in a rugged unpaved road and Y walked in a paved jogger’s
pathway we will change our answer and say X is better! If we say X is 25years and Y is 50years old, X is 65 kgm and Y is 120 kgm our assessment will keep changing. This is the same with our lives. Each is dealt with a certain set of cards with which each one has to play. Without
the knowledge of who has what capacity and what problems we start comparing our lives with others. Each one’s opportunity will be different. The solution to each one’s problem will also be different. Let us focus on being the best we possibly can be within our means and
