This thread is for fresh college graduates who are not working and are fulltime preparing for the UPSC CSE exam. Those who don't know the A, B, C of this journey.

Before starting the preparation of UPSC. Check the pattern of exam, check upsc cse last year notification on official website.

After checking pattern, read syllabus. Read it multiple-times, analyse how much subject in it, key-topics of it & divide paper with subject.

After analysing syllabus, take PYQ papers & analyse them.
How to analyse PYQ papers?

•Check the repeatability of the questions
•Analyse it with the syllabus
•Check whether question is easy or demands deep understanding.
•Trace out its source
•Note the keywords in it.

After analysing Syllabus & PYQ, start with NCERTs, read it multiple times.

While reading NCERTs you may face some doubtful Questions as-
•is it compulsory to read NCERT?
•we can use any coaching notes/ summary
•you may think that we are not a small kid to read NCERT.

These types of doubts may come to your mind but only keep one thing in mind that you have to read NCERT. You can't skip it. NCERT is necessary because it's clear our basics and give us good idea in interlinking topic.

Pick any newspaper (The Hindu or Indian Express). Both are good but pick any one out of this. In your initial phase it takes time just like some aspirant spend half day on it, some 3 to 4 hours. It's fully depend on your reading skills and how you analyse it.

Don't watch any newspaper analysis video. If you face problems in understanding then no need to worry, just stick to it. Slowly & gradually you've full command over it.

Just after 2-3 months, you find yourself in a good position. Now you can read a newspaper in an hour. But most importantly don't lose your patience with time. your reading speed & analytical thinking change. But It doesn't come in just in 2 or 3 days.

Don't read full newspaper. read 1st page, skip political, crime, sports related news for example from the Hindu newspaper read front page, nation, editorial,oped, context and text,world, economy, science and Technology and FAQ.

We can pick any coaching's monthly CA Magzine, which covers all the happenings of the month. Why we spent 1-2 hour on reading newspaper, when in market good materials available for CA?

1. Today (oct,22),PM Narendra Modi launches Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) at Statue of Unity in Kevadia. The event was attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
2.The LiFE is a campaign to protect and preserve the environment.

It's best to start your Economics preparation by knowing the weightage of Economics in the previous year's prelims exams. The weightage of Economics has remained abt 15% of the total marks in the past UPSC CSE Prelims papers.
