Current Problems of #Web5

#Web5 is going to shape the Internet in a way that gives users the freedom to choose for themselves.

The freedom to manage our Data and Identity as we see fit.
But as with anything ambitious, there are problems to overcome.

Here 👇 are some of them 🧵 Image
I am going to divide the problems into two categories:

• Technical
• General
Technical Problems

If you are interested in the technical aspect, the best way to understand these problems is to get your hands on Github.

Here are the links:

👉 SSI service: github.com/TBD54566975/ss…

👉 DWN sdk: github.com/TBD54566975/dw…
General Problems

There are many non-technical problems that, once solved, will allow Web5 to proliferate.

Here is a list 👇
1. Education

Too many people think that Web5 = Web3 on Bitcoin. It’s not.

This educational barrier prevents people from getting involved, either because they hate crypto, or because they love crypto.

Here is a good starting point:
2. Responsibility

Freedom is not free, you have to earn it.
It requires responsibility.

Keeping private keys secret, managing money and having a backup system for files --these are difficult things.

Solutions that simplify these aspects are vital for reaching everyday people.
I am working on a project called @nabi_technology.

“Make Digital Self-Sovereignty so simple that everyone can provide for themselves” –this is our goal.

3. Network effect

As with any standard-based technology, usage is what will make or break #Web5.

If a critical mass of applications and users will be reached, then it will flourish.

What might these killer apps be?
Here are 4 ideas:

• A Wallet (like the one announced by @get_zion)

• Authentication using DIDs

• Unstoppable chat applications / Social Networks

• Automating the process of requesting, storing on your DWN and deleting your data from centralized Apps.

• and tbDEX 👇
Let me know in the comments what you think about these problems and how to solve them.

If you are looking for ways to contribute to #bitcoin, there is one FOSS where you can truly have an impact.

Not many know about it, yet it is one of the most important projects in the space.

First, I will tell you a story that you already know.

A nocoiner buys his first sats on Binance and Coinbase, probably along with some shitcoins.
Then he listens to a friend or a maxi on Twitter and finally decides to self-custody and get rid of the shitcoins.

#Bitcoin has taught me many lessons.

One is "not your node, not your rules".

As usual with #Bitcoin, this lesson expands far beyond.

>> A THREAD🧵 <<
Among the many things it is, Bitcoin is software, free open software. It is software that you can download on your computer, modify and share.

But it must be your computer, not someone else's.
Why you may wonder.

No one is forcing it on you, but simply for it to work *for you*, the software must run on *your computer*.

Kid, today I'm going to talk to you about something called #Bitcoin.

It is a digital currency, it is energy, but above all #Bitcoin is Truth -- but let's take it slow.
Bitcoin is software.

By now you are grown up and know how to use apps on a smartphone or programs on a computer.

Bitcoin is one of these.

Over the past 6 months, I've spent over 500 hours studying how #Bitcoin will change the world.

Here 👇 is my TOP 5 of the most exciting developments for 2023.

>> MEGA THREAD 🧵 << Image
1. The Lightning Network.

This comes as no surprise to those familiar with Bitcoin. The Lightning Network is already the killer app for #Bitcoin as MoE.

Orange-pill your friends by showing them the wonders of LN and explaining to them how it works simply and clearly! 👇
2. Web5

Most bitcoiners don't yet understand the magnitude of #Web5.

Half of the Web's problems can be solved by the advent of Self-Sovereign-Identity.
And the other half by Decentralized Web Nodes.

Value4Value will unlock the full potential of the Creator Economy.

Powered by #Bitcoin and Lightning ⚡ it will forever change the way we understand Value.

>> A THREAD🧵 <<
What is Value4Value?

Value4Value is a monetization model, a content format, and a way of life.

It starts from the realization that information wants to be free, always.
Information wants to be free as in freedom because we humans are social beings, and we share what we like.

To imprison information is to fight against our own nature.

Bitcoin Twitter is abuzz with excitement about a protocol that promises to decentralize social media: #Nostr.

But all that glitters is not gold, ehmm not #Bitcoin.

A 👇 Thread 🧵
What is #Nostr?

Nostr stands for “Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays”.

(I love the name 🤣)
According to the official repo, it is “the simplest open protocol that is able to create a censorship-resistant global "social" network once and for all.”

Is that true?
