1/ An honest thread on my #COP27 experience to date with 4 days left!!!
2/ This is a dystopian COP. The fragile trust between developed and developing further erodes as does the trust of citizens to their governments.
3/ Developed countries have sickeningly show that they do not care about the poor and marginalised citizens of the developing world as they challenge equity whilst speaking of urgency and vulnerability in the same breath. I am so disappointed.
4/ North countries are trying to sow disunity and divide the Global South. They WILL NOT SUCCEED. The people united will never be defeated.
5/ Why would you select an oppressive, human rights abusing, gas peddling state for a COP. There is No Climate Justice Without Human Rights. #FreeAlaa#FreeThemAll
6/ Inside the venue no food/water in the first few days. Soaring prices everywhere. Internet not working. Negotiation rooms freezing, negotiations unheard over the roar of planes overhead and fans inside. Threatening and surveilling, being shoved into moving taxis. This is not ok
7/ This CLIMATE conference has the most fossil fuel lobbyists.....this climate conference with plastic trees and oppression is a nightmare
8/ Now the negotiations. All the key demands for vulnerable countries are not being met. Adaptation (doubling finance and 50% share) Mitigation (1.5, MWP). Finance (Deliver 100bn, new, additional, adequate, needs and grants based finance) . #LossAndDamage. . .
9/ #Lossanddamage. . . United and in one voice with the brothers and sisters of every other developing and vulnerable country in the world, we have heard the clear and unanimous ask for a #LossAndDamageFinance fund under the UNFCCC to address Loss and damage now.
8/ The majority of the world's demands are so clear and sharp. In a negotiation room when the whole of G77 and China got up to huddle you see the world move as a few remain seated. We see you North. We see you. It's not ok.
But you know what with all this THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED #ClimateJustice
