When I was a young man in my 20s, with a young family, I was diagnosed with cancer (in #Alberta). Tests, surgery, and hyper aggressive chemo ensued. At that time I was off work for 4 months and was taking some of the most expensive drugs available. 1/
If I would've had to pay for this directly, I would've been bankrupt, hopeless and likely would've chose death so my family wouldn't be burdened. But I didn't have to make that choice, because I live in Canada, where we all share the provisions of healthcare. 2/
20 years later I'm still here. A sucessful, proud father to a nurse and a son, and still lovingly married. Happy to pay taxes so that others can have the same opportunity to live healthy, have supports and get quality education so that society's future is ensured. 3/
@ABDanielleSmith is endangering that for all of us. Many have forgotten what makes Canada a wonderful place to live...our freedom of expression, our societal support structure, our propensity to care for others. The system isn't perfect, but functions better than you think. 4/
Factions are on the verge of trying to change our core values, for the worse, in the interest of profit, anti-science and unbridled libertarianism. Those who have money will get the choice. Those who do not will suffer horribly. 5/
Albertans, you need to voice your concerns now. This means calling and writing our Pretend-Premier. This mean contacting your MLA. This means contacting other MLAs. Silence will be taken as approval and in this critical meantime, you cannot truly wait until May to be heard. 6/
