3/ @BCschoolCovid fields emails & texts from parents & teachers from all over BC. Here is what they are seeing (in a reply to @realreporter’s tweet above):
6/ Meanwhile, 2 days *before* Dr. Henry’s interview, Victoria General Hospital paediatric ICU was on diversion to BCCH. DBH knew this yet continues to downplay the critical virus situation for BC children.
7/ And just 1 week after DBH’s presser & interview where she claims BC child illness levels are within normal limits (false), @PennyDaflos reports that Surrey Memorial Hospital’s paediatric ER is abnormally busy, to extreme levels:
8/ @PennyDaflos also discovers that BC’s reported stats on hospital beds include those *that aren’t staffed & therefore are empty*, giving false impressions as to actual hospital capacity for pediatric patients.
9/ And before @CDCofBC claims that PCR testing shows low rates of illness, @brish_ti@CapitalDailyVic investigation uncovers extremely low testing rates, with even those in hospital & those sent by family docs, sent away with no tests. Even kids w/ fever for 4 or 5 days straight!
10/END
Don’t let BC officials, intent on “riding out” the tripledemic waves in #bced schools, convince otherwise. They just don’t want to put safety measures in.
Reminder to #bcpoli: If you’d listened to @SafeSchoolsBC in August (& prior), maybe you would have avoided this mess?
2/ “Protect our Province BC calls for the immediate resignation of Dr. Henry and a review of the entire leadership of BC Public Health, who have participated either directly or indirectly in the deception with regards to Covid infection risks in schools.”
2/ 2 of the authors, Dr. Jennifer Grant & Dr. Martha Fulford, are from the #UrgencyOfNormal group. It advocates for schools to be open without protections, saying Omicron is mild, even though it hospitalized & killed more kids in 8 mo than 2 years prior!
3/ The Urgency of Normal “toolkit” has been criticized by experts before.
"It's just simply, here is the conclusion we've come to, and here is the argument we would use in favor of this conclusion. And I think it's flawed ... start to finish," says @MarkWKlineMD1.
2) A court challenge in Alberta for the govt to reveal justifications for removing mask protections in schools, revealed that AB gov’s OWN DATA showed that masks reduce COVID-19 cases in schools & in community (less hospitalizations too), yet gov removed masks anyway!
