Earlier today, Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Clark confirmed that the PC government didn't consult with #FirstNations before passing their controversial housing #Bill23 23. Said consultations will happen now, that it's already become law. #onpoli
Clark also said municipalities will also "deal with our #Indigenous partners" as well.
The @ChiefsofOntario are not amused, arguing that #Bill23 is a "blatant violation" of Indigenous rights, and that the PCs do not have jurisdiction to make "unilateral administrative changes"
"First Nations are in the best position to identify the necessary measures to mitigate or prevent adverse environmental impacts. We are concerned with Clark's comments to 'deal' with First Nations by way of requesting after-the-fact commentary regarding the passing of Bill 23."
"As we have said time and time again, the Government of Ontario cannot avoid its duty to consult with First Nations by delegating responsibilities and obligations to municipalities," @ChiefsofOntario told Queen's Park Today.
They are demanding a meeting with Ford and Clark.
As a side note, Premier Ford and I were in an elevator together today and I asked him if the government had consulted #FirstNations on #Bill23. He ignored me. #onpoli

Here's what Hungary's President had to say about her visit with Premier Doug Ford that the PCs have made no mention of occurring.
"In Toronto, I had a meeting with Premier Doug Ford steering Ontario along a successful path as a Conservative leader." #onpoli
"He believes in low taxes, a robust economy and did not grow distant from people’s everyday problems.
The Premier spoke with recognition of the reduction of the tax burden in Hungary, that more people now have a job, that we introduced a flat rate taxation scheme as well as...
... as tax benefits for families. We agreed to intensify our economic and trade relations even more in the future.
