I still report anti-vaxx accounts for encouraging self-harm. Typically the people behind these accounts will let their veil slip. The “PureBlood” label they apply to themselves evokes white supremacist and fascist undertones.
“The phrase (pure-blood) was popularized by J.K. Rowling’s villain Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series as a way to distinguish between those with “pure” wizard ancestry and everyone else,”drawing parallels with the Nazi doctrine of the “master race.”
vice.com/en/article/7kv…
The term, “pureblood” “opens a direct line to the Christofascist movement represented by the QAnon community and similar far-right groups.“

melmagazine.com/en-us/story/pu…
The Purebloods marketed themselves as a breed of unsullied humans, superior to the herds of [those] duped into tainting their bloodstreams. The Purebloods were strong enough — their immune systems vigorous enough — to defeat the virus.

theedgemedia.org/purebloods-ant…
“Still, for some anti-vax activists and conspiracy theorists, COVID was not a real virus but a hoax manufactured by Democrats and other global elites — the latter an anti-Semitic code for powerful Jews.”

So when the #UCP are “looking into the legality of forgiving people who were fined for breaking COVID-19 public health orders in the early years of the pandemic,” then who are they pandering to?

globalnews.ca/news/9222899/a…
When Premier Danielle Smith has #UCP MLAs harassing and bullying businesses that require vaccinations, who is she supporting?

calgaryherald.com/news/local-new…
What message are Alberta Conservatives sending to the kind of people who use the “purebood” label? How long has the #UCP been inviting white supremacists to come to Alberta? What kind of person celebrates the #UCP? Who are they trying to appeal to?
What kind of person is welcomed in the party that supports anti-vaxxers?

“Jason Kenney said Eva Kiryakos and Caylan Ford could stay because they don’t belong to organizations that are “actively promoting hatred.””(Unless you count the #UCP)

A tale of two headlines, months apart.

To deal with *labour shortages* “The Alberta government invested $8 million earlier this fall to create 69 “micro-credential programs” over two years.” After “$690 million worth of cuts they have imposed on post-secondary schools.” #abed ImageImage
“The @albertaNDP supports micro-credential programs, but the program is a tiny fraction of the $690 million worth of cuts they have imposed on #abpse schools. The #UCP’s] policies leave Albertans behind.”—@davideggenAB

calgary.citynews.ca/2022/12/02/alb…
“For @UCalgary students, funding cuts have contributed to an increase in annual tuition of 25% over the cost 4 years ago.”

“If word gets out that the government’s not funding universities, colleges properly, then people just won’t come,”—@davideggenAB

What Conservatives want for Canada:

“For more than 14% of people who use insulin in the U.S., insulin costs consume at least 40% of their available income, a new study finds.”

Predatory capitalism is exploiting people based on a medical condition that they were probably born with. Extracting profits & making people terminally indentured. “Make us profits, or die.”

Not too different from how capitalism treats workers.

Because Alberta diverts almost $300 MILLION per year FROM public education to subsidize elite private schools—to subsidize the rich—there is less funding to support your child. (See linked thread below.)

Albertans have been conditioned to accept this instead of being outraged
The diversion of tax money to from public education to subsidize the rich is why Alberta public schools have some of the highest school fees and highest bus fees in the country. 🧵👇

When funding was given out for covid supports, elite for-profit private schools like Webber Academy received hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars in subsidies.

Pollution remains unhealthy around #Calgary due to ongoing wildfires in the mountains.

Climate change is real. The fact that events like this happen almost every. single. year. is frightening. What kind of future are we leaving for today’s children?

aqicn.org/station/canada…😬
It is widely understood that wildfires are worsened by climate change.

It is widely understood that climate change is worsened by the fossil fuel industry.

It is not widely understood that the fossil fuel industry is heavily subsidized by Canadian Governments.

The term eugenics was coined in 1883 by British explorer and natural scientist Francis Galton. Alberta and British Columbia passed laws that created eugenics programs, in 1928 and 1933 respectively.
2,822 Albertans and over 200 British Columbians were sterilized through these programs. In 1937 Alberta amended its Sexual Sterilization Act to remove the need for informed consent for sterilization.

eugenicsarchive.ca/discover/world
Supporters of Eugenics made assumptions that Canadian society could be improved by encouraging reproduction among certain groups — particularly Anglo-Saxon Protestants — and discouraging or limiting reproduction of other groups.

Doug Ford should give a huge thank-you to the @OntLiberal party for helping to ensure this victory for his second majority tonight.

@StevenDelDuca campaigned hard against the @OntarioNDP right to the very end.

I had a hunch that this was going on when I saw all the calls for strategic voting—which often just confuses progressively minded voters.

Small-C, conservative-lite, Liberals, will nver solve the problems created by big-C Conservatives.

Consider: of those who thought Ford was a great/good/OK premier, 13%/10%/33% of respondents were Liberal voters.

h/t to @christoaivalis.
