Advocating for an embryo/fetus while ignoring children who are living, breathing beings right in front of you is easy, lazy & performative.
Kids deserve safety, quality education, healthcare, warm meals, a roof over their head. That’s the real work. That’s #ProLife#MoLeg

Happy to continue, but I’m pretty sure by now you see where I’m going with this. After a 20+ year GOP supermajority, my most heartfelt fuck you to the self-proclaimed “pro-life” lawmakers. #MoLeg#MoGov#MoSen#DoBetterMissouri

People keep asking about Amendment 5 - creating a new dept for the National Guard. I was one of only two no votes in the house, but remain an emphatic NO. This one has major fascist/separatist vibes. 2/12
The other no came from one of the most reasonable Rs I work with and his concerns were about separating the guard from the rest of the Dept of Puvlic Safety, with whom they have to coordinate closely in disasters. I agree with him. 3/12
At the beginning of the school year, a librarian at Rockwood Summit HS displayed a sticker promoting inclusivity & acceptance. The principal made him remove it claiming that the statements on the sticker indicated a political lean. This is shameful. rstalon.com/1362/uncategor…
“For Baum (librarian), differentiating between politics and human rights is difficult, since human rights have always had to be earned through politics.”
“For students of color and LGBTQ students, who disproportionately experience discrimination in school buildings, symbols such as a Black Lives Matter poster or a Pride flag can be useful tools for navigating their social and physical surroundings.” edweek.org/leadership/pri…
Following Monday's tragic shooting, @RepCori hosts a Town Hall on Gun Violence & School Safety. Community leaders & elected officials from across the StL area have come together, along with @RepBowman, Vice-Chair of the U.S. House Comm on Education & Labor fb.watch/gqPbhl9GSW/
@RepCori@RepBowman "Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children in the U.S. In Missouri, we have the 4th highest rate of gun deaths in the entire nation. We need gun reform legislation that is rooted in public health because this is a public health crisis." @RepCori
In the back of the room, mental health professionals are available to anyone who needs them this evening. This is what a true public servant looks like. Missouri CD1, I sure hope you realize how fortunate you are. 🧡
Missouri’s weak, almost nonexistent, gun laws made it possible for this 19-y/o gunman to purchase an AR-15 from an unlicensed dealer, where background checks aren’t required. Local law enforcement will be sued for $50k if they assist federal agents in enforcing these BGD ✅s.
The gunman stockpiled 600+ rounds of ammunition, had 7 magazines on a chest strap, 8 magazines in a bag, and strategically placed ammunition all around the school building. #MoLeg@MomsDemand
This was preventable. But Missouri is ruled by a cowardly supermajority Republican party who sits back, cowered behind their desks, passing laws that flood our streets with guns and disenfranchise urban communities at every step. #MoLeg#MoSen@MomsDemand
Hey MO GOP-if you TRULY appreciated law enforcement’s response to yesterday’s school shooting, you’d stop sending them into situations where they’re outgunned by a 19 y/o who has access to these guns because of your legislation. You don’t back the blue. Cut the shit. @MomsDemand
“Missouri not only has none of the foundational gun violence prevention laws, but indeed the state repealed an 80-year-old permit to purchase—leading to an increase in gun homicide of up to 27%.” #MoLeg#MoSen@MomsDemand everytownresearch.org/rankings/state…
My friend’s partner, my uncle, 2 of my cousins, my neighbor, my former gymnast, & my friend’s son are all in law enforcement. If you’re going to force them into buildings where they’re outgunned while you cower under your desk, you need to take down that stupid blue line flag.
Today would’ve been my parent’s 50th anniversary. My dad died a little over 1 1/2 years ago. I spent the day with my mom and she reminded me of one of my favorite stories from their wedding day. It brought a smile to my face on a hard day. Hoping it does the same for you.
My parents were married in a small town in Wisconsin, where everyone knows your name (and your business 😉). Before the ceremony, my dad saw a man walk into the church and sit down who he had never seen. Didn’t think much of it, just assumed it was one of my mom’s crazy cousins.
My mom noticed him as she walked down the aisle, she assumed he was with my dad. Midway through the service, everyone noticed him scuffling around, as he moved up and cozied up in the front row. He told the mother of the bride that he couldn’t see from the back. She made room.
