Russia accuses Ukraine of using EU missions as a “human shield.” More in our regular updates ukraineworld.org/articles/infow…
#AgainstRussianLies #InfoWatch
At the international Solidarity with the Ukrainian People conference in Paris on December 13, 🇺🇦 President Zelenskyy called on the #EU to send special missions to the energy infrastructure objects of #Ukraine to stabilise the situation and provide proper international control.
Russia has already reacted to Zelenskyy’s initiative. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that President Zelenskyy intends to use EU missions as “human shields.” #RussianPropaganda Image
"He wants the Europeans to sit there as human shields. ... The cannon fodder of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not enough for him. Fresh blood is needed," Medvedev said, calling the Europeans "fools" for whom Zelenskyy “has no pity.” #RussiaIsATerroristState
Medvedev should look up the meaning of the term "human shield" in international law because it is a Russian tactic, as they have used the civilian population of the occupied territories to cover the withdrawal of their troops. #StopRussia

What are the key moments of the first 200 days of the 🇷🇺 war? UW has translated the key aspects of Liga.net review of a new book Over the Precipice, by Volodymyr Horbulin and Valentyn Badrak, military experts. Key points – in our brief, #UkraineWorldAnalysis: 1/11 Image
Putin was helped by Western inaction. The war began 8 years before the full-scale invasion. And it was a logical consequence of the weakness of the "collective West" in its confrontation with Russia. 2/11
For eight years, the army has not been a priority. It was planned to allocate 133.5 billion hryvnias, or approximately $5 billion, to the armed forces [in 2022]. This is an extremely small amount for a country at war with a giant enemy. 3/11

And what, there will be no annual 🇷🇺President’s speech? #AgainstRussianLies #InfoWatch
For the last 10 years, the head of the Kremlin has annually held a meeting at the end of the year, “a meeting best of the best”. Last year, a big press conference occurred on December 23rd, where Vladimir Putin talked for almost 4 hours, responding to 55 questions. #StopRussiaNOW Image
However, this tradition continued until #Russia started “a special military operation” in #Ukraine, and this year, the annual big press conference of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin won’t occur. #RussiainvadedUkraine Image

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council @OleksiyDanilov shares his vision of a current watershed period and what to do to avoid the big war. The answer is clear - de-Putinization, denuclearization, demilitarization of 🇷🇺 and and dismantling its pseudo-federation.
Regarding Russia, now we are dealing with the emerging hybrid, modernized bloodiest version of totalitarianism, which has rightly been called the ideology of russism, which can use all the latest technological and civilizational achievements.
Silence and lack of actions from Europe in 1930s led to rise of Hitler. If the humankind didn't draw the lesson from history, the current war for independence of Ukraine can be just prologue to the big war.

What is the current situation with judicial reform in Ukraine? UkraineWorld spoke to Mykhailo Zhernakov, chair of the board of the DEJURE Foundation. Key points – in our brief, #UkraineWorldAnalysis: 1/13
The war has greatly changed everything. First of all, we are already on the fourth iteration of Ukraine`s judicial reform. Some parts of it were successful, like the Anti-Corruption Court, but the rest has been less so. 2/13
This is mostly because earlier judicial self-governance, which exists in other European countries, was introduced. This is a good recipe for preserving the system’s ability to preserve itself, but a bad one when the system needs to be changed. 3/13

Undoubtedly, the aid provided by the West to Ukraine has been a pillar of Ukraine's successful resistance against Russian aggression. We have put together a short compilation of all the key points regarding Western assistance to Ukraine. 1/14
📌Key trends:

From the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the US has been Ukraine’s key donor. Its contributions have gone far beyond even the combined support of all EU member states and EU institutions, especially in the provision of military aid. 2/14
The situation changed after the Council of the EU reached an agreement on December 10, 2022 to provide Ukraine with EUR 18 billion during 2023, a decision initially put in jeopardy by a Hungarian veto. 3/14

In Regular updates on Russian disinformation narratives targeting Ukraine, we find new #Putin's explanation for attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. #AgainstRussianLies #InfoWatch
Seeming to forget whose missiles and tanks crossed whose border first, Russia’s state-run RIA. Novosti quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin discussing how Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly committed acts of sabotage on Russian territory. #RussiainvadedUkraine
Speaking during an award ceremony at the Kremlin on Thursday, Putin argued that "There is much noise now about our attacks on the energy infrastructure of our neighbouring country. Yes, we are doing this. But who started it?” #UkraineUnderAttack
