Three Prime Ministers in one year with #ConservativeParty members effectively disenfranchised from the process. Having voted for #borisjohnson and #liztruss we now have a Prime Minister rejected by members. 1/13

#democraticDOR is not against who leads our party so long as the members have their vote and endorse our leader. Any leader of our party needs the support of our membership. But it's not just a request it is our constitutional right! 2/13

Because that was what was promised by the William Hague reforms, which members backed and voted for! 3/13

#williamhaguemp said "never again will it be possible for the views of our members to go unheard. We will give every member of our Party an equal say in choosing our leader. That's right, one Member, one vote" 4/13

"and not just for leadership elections. We are going to give all our members a vote when it comes to picking our candidates for the Westminister Parliament, the European Parliament, and the Mayor of London" 5/13

"It doesn't end there. we are going to involve our members in developing our future policies" These reforms are not just mine; they belong to the hundreds of thousands of Party members from all over the country who have taken part in meetings and ballots and debates on reform" 6

The above is an exercise in Conservative Party democracy, which we should all be in favour of. Because without members democratic votes and support any leader is the product of a discredited system. 11/13

In the absence of a leadership vote pursuant to the Hague reforms, and following the Hague precedents, members should have a confirmatory vote on the leader of our party! It's not about #rishisunak but about democracy within the #conservativeparty 12/13
