This is disgusting, #CruelAndUnusual punishment - prisons are denying inmates meds that would help tremendously with addiction treatment, doesn't get them high.
The real stuff is very expensive on the black market; some get so desperate they turn to much more dangerous drugs. ⬇️
Instead, prisons erect unrealistic barriers to treatment, which gets inmates hurt, while making 💰 for smugglers. Those often ARE guards, or one can assume the others find ways to compensate them to 🙈🙉🙊.
One thing the article doesn't make explicit is that by ONLY letting... 2/
...patients get this treatment when they're close to release date, each time they're busted, prison takes away early release, puts them in solitary confinement, which directly makes more money for the folks who make decisions. When the SHU is full, they need more guard-hours. 3/
When a prison is run for profit, & the government pays owners more for being full, capitalism creates incentive to find every excuse possible to deny early release, keep the cells overcrowded, even for those trying to improve their lives.
The incentives are perverse. 4/4

Wearing a mask before you enter a space you don't own is a gesture of respect, anti-ableism.
Wearing one upon request, without explanation or imposition of authority is non-ableist.
Demanding why/refusing is offensive, contemptuous, weaponizes privilege.

Like yielding, stopping sharply to avoid an accident, or driving a big truck, making others stop for you, & 🖕🏻 at pedestrians.
The last is an act of violence; you're endangering public health, and your own.
Pls RT & tag people in replies who do the last one!

It's entirely possible to support efforts to stop a violent 🇷🇺 invasion as the wrong way to enact change & people defending their homes, without implying that 🇺🇦 & all their leaders are the second coming of Christ.
The underlying problem is that those in power accept... ⬇️
...a veneer of democracy as sufficient, even if it the lived reality of most people is a government that only serves a privileged minority.
We don't interrogate past, "Do they have ballots to select their government?" until the media wants an excuse to discredit them. 2/
We need to seriously question our own virtue, & take it to heart that the answer is no, 🇺🇸 is HIGHLY corrupt, & will be until we dramatically change our election systems in ways that will make our oligarchs & incumbents VERY angry.
They, though, have a lock on the... 3/

Great, now both of my parents & 2 brothers hate disabled people & want those at elevated risk of #COVID confined under indefinite house arrest.
That's what you mean when you say "Masks shouldn't be mandatory on public transit/in public places like stores." ⬇️
Yet when I told them about how @MIT prohibits even ASKING others to wear a mask, even if students are doing a group project & one of them is at elevated risk, their response was, "Hopefully if you tell the rest of them about your condition, they'll do the right thing." 2/ Will Riker from Start Trek TNG taken aback, caption, "W
NO, that's forcing disabled people to disclose private health information, & if they get there to find one lab partner is an incel III%er sociopath, that could kill or further disable an innocent person.
Can @HarvardLawNLG get on setting precedent that ADA requires masks? 3/

@RepGarbarino, #ActuallyAutistic New Yorkers need you to #AbolishABA, which abuses autistic children, conditioning them to suffer in silence to accommodate the bigotry of allistic parents & authority figures.
The onus is on THEM to accommodate #neurodiversity!
"Allistic" is our preferred term for those who aren't punished by the majority for being different .
You may have heard the term "neurotypical"; that presupposes that you are the typical, better version, while we who are "neurodivergant" are implied inferior. 2/
If autistic people were the majority, the shoe could just as easily be on the other foot.
You've constructed the dominant social norms, laws, corporate policies, etc. based on assumptions that we don't quite fit so well; this mismatch causes our difference to be a disability. 3/

Next time an interviewer asks you to "Explain this gap on your resume," REGARDLESS of why, answer,
"I decline to answer that question in #solidarity with those whose reasons are none of your business, or reveal information that it's illegal to not-hire them for."
🧵
#HotTake It's MOST important that those with more #privilege who would claim to not be racist/classist/ableist/misogynist/otherwise hostile to all marginalized groups refuse.
When YOU give an actual answer, YOU steal 💰 from all of them.
THEY don't get work, or get paid less. 2/
Especially someone who's been to prison, there's no good way to spin that story, especially for white-collar jobs with good pay.
People make mistakes, or get punished unjustly - YOU condemn them to poverty for life. 3/
