130.08/ #Steelers season over, sadly. We were playing well right now - way better than Miami - but it's our own fault (never set your fate on a Jets' victory). 3 big reasons we came short: (1) TJ Watt injured for half the year (2) Trubisky's 3 INT game vs. BAL in w14 (3) our OC.
130.08b/ But can we enter into the record that Mike Tomlin is a HOF coach? The "never had a losing season" is a real stat, especially for the 2019 & 2022 seasons. No HOF QB (compare to Belichick's freefall). Mike T's secret? Treating his players with respect. #HereWeGo
130.09/ Seeing extremely iffy "roughing" calls (& other violence infractions) I now believe the #NFL refs were told to be over aggressive with those kinds of penalties b/c of the industry threatening injury to #DamarHamlin. If so, then I can't complain b/c at least it's something
130.10/ This is my response about #Steelers/Tomlin's achievement of no losing seasons.
Look: I'm a #Knicks fan which is a yearly disappointment. And, of course, there's the #Mets...
So having a team be relevant for every game of a season? Priceless.
130.11/ IMHO the Lions and the Steelers were playing very well right now & would make much more entertaining 7 seeds than SEA/MIA. That said, as a fan, an imagination fueled "what if" success story is more fun than seeing PIT get destroyed by BUF again.
is the Week 14 loss to BAL by "Mitchie Three Picks" Trubisky.
My hot take: we'd be safely in the playoffs if we started Mason. But, as I said in 130.11, dreams are sweet but cheap.
130.14/ As mentioned before, I'm the morning DJ at breakfast before we all leave for the day. This week starts the seasonal-thematic soundtrack for Shemot with this:
Although, as my SCW students will know, this is more appropriate:
130.15/ @jon_bois definitely deserves the NYT profile treatment so this was nice to see: nytimes.com/2022/12/30/mov…
I was just praising this recent video to my family. I highly recommend it as an intro to his craft:
130.17/ Gotta say, wearing an N95 mask has really helped my efforts in ventriloquism.
130.18/ #Steelers fans were asked who they'll root for now that we're eliminated. In this type of situation, I don’t root for, I root against (BAL, CIN, DAL, Brady), but this year I think we all need a BUF-MIN Superbowl. That philosophical question can finally be answered.
130.19/ Aw man, Jeff Beck died. He was one of the best guitarists in rock.
130.21/ This was mind-blowing: #NYR tying the game from a heroic effort by K’Andre Miller with less than a second on the clock (and then winning in overtime was just icing on the cake). This is why hockey is so much fun, no matter who's playing.
199.02/ FYI - I did some research and evidently the real 2015 ad this skit is parodying was about a father sending his kid to the US Army (i.e. the army was presented in the same gauzy way as college).
IMO the 2 best are (1) PIT-BAL b/c both teams are always good, the games always close, violent & have playoff implications. (2) NYG-PHI b/c no matter how good/bad either are the game can go either way & the fanbases HATE each other.

195.02/ Happy #Eclipse2024 Day for all who celebrate. Here's an interesting article about the halakhic implications of an eclipse by Rabbi Dov Linzer: blogs.timesofisrael.com/solar-eclipse-…
195.03/ #Eclipse2024 My extended family went to a place of 100% totality and took this picture a few minutes ago. For me its 90% and can't be photographed (which is one reason I said shehechiyanu). Not paskening for anyone else, but for me this is a religious experience.
