It’s a big shame that #Rwanda, a smaller and far less resourced country than #Nigeria @Nigeria, the so-called “giant of Africa” 😂😏 has better, more sophisticated security checks at their major airport. I’ll explain…
Before getting to the main #Kigali airport terminal, the major security checks are done. Cars taking passengers to the airport are put through an automatic car scanner, while the driver of the car and passengers go through their own checks, within the same zone.
After the driver and passengers go through the body scanners and metal detectors, they wait for the car to come through the automated 🚗 scanner. If it’s ‘clean’, it rolls through and the driver and passenger(s) get in and drive to the terminal…
It would have been nice to film the process and post it here. But I’m afraid that I have no intentions of being a guest of the @Rwandapolice. 😂 They don’t mess around with security in this country!
Back to the story… unlike the rubbish that happens at MMIA, you don’t do any luggage check within the main terminal. You walk straight through to check-in and the regular ticket and baggage processes happen. Why can’t @FAAN_Official do what @RwandaAirports do???
Unlike @nigimmigration & @CustomsNG officers who ask passengers to “show them love” (give them unearned money) as they depart and arrive, nothing like that happens in #Rwanda. If an official, down to a cleaner, demands or receives money, that’s a sackable offence.
.@hadisirika, you’re the @fmaviationng Minister. Rather than waste further time, and money, on a hare-brained “national carrier” project, can you PLEASE introduce the seamless airport security checks that your counterparts at @RwandaAirports have? It’s really not that hard.😐🚶🏾‍♂️
And I have not even told you the main part of this story, because I have promised not to give specifics. Who is in charge of the Rwandan system? Where is he from? That’s a story for another day. 🙂🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️

A life lesson: About a week and half ago, at @PrinceEbeano supermarket in Lekki, I picked this up during my shop. It cost just over 4k Naija. Instead of putting in my shopping basket, I put it in my pocket & forgot it was there… Image
I paid for everything else I picked up, except the key holder. When I went back to shop today & bought yet more stuff, I took a replica key-holder to the cashier & told them to use the barcode to charge me for the key-holder I took last time and didn’t pay for. She did just that.
I could have gotten away with not paying for it. But I can’t live with taking something I didn’t pay for. Integrity is what you exercise when no one is looking and when you can do something wrong and get away with it, with no consequences.

This Tuesday, I spoke to a @CAF_Online executive committee member about the precarious financial situation hanging over the confederation, in which they must pay $50m to @Lagardere_SE_fr for breaking their marketing contract. This is what he said. ⬇️
“Osasu, I really want to avoid talking on these issues. But I really appreciate your concern. You have very good points and I personally want to talk to the @CAF_Online administration, about these very serious matters you’ve raised.”
“I will going to the #FIFAWorldCup final and will get there at the weekend, watch it and return home. There are too many things to attend to back in……. (No, I wasn’t going to mention the city. Or country. That would have been a dead giveaway, no? 😄)

There is no #Qatar2022  #FIFAWorldCup  radio programme coming out of #Africa like the @eagle7fm.com & Eagle 103.7FM Special that I, @osasuo, am anchoring from 1800 GMT on Monday, December 12th. Here’s my stellar panel of coaches, former players, renowned writers & broadcasters…
Current @UgandaCranes coach, @michocoach; long-time @FranceFootball_ African expert, @frank_simon, now a commentator and analyst for @CANALPLUS_SPORT; @OtiAdjei of @tv3_ghana and @filippomricci of @Gazzetta_it. And that’s not all…
.@bonitamersiades, organiser of the @FbalWritersFest and @Socceroos expert; @MezahiMaher who talks on African football for @CNN and @5liveSport; former @NGSuperEagles coach Gernot Rohr and @martynziegler, chief sports reporter for @thetimes.

An account, from @KeirRadnedge, former @WorldSoccerMag editor & @AIPSmedia football commission chair: “Late in the match at Lusail, colleagues up to the left of me started shouting for medical aid. Journos moved chairs so @GrantWahl could be laid down…
“… A medical team was quickly on hand and must have spent up to half an hour of treatment, including perpetual CPR, before he was placed on a stretcher and carried out… It is very upsetting (this tragedy) particularly for those who were around him.”
My sympathy to @celinegounder, his wife, and the entire Wahl family. He was just too young to go this way. He had so much more to give in life…

As we have a second #Qatar2022 #FIFAWorldCup rest day, before the start of the QFs, it's a good time to provide a bit more details on the @CAF_Online #AfricaSuperLeague saga and what some CAF exco members thought about the plan, when it was presented to them... Image
What I am reporting is based entirely on an eye-witness account of a @CAF_Online executive committee member, who was in the room, when the #AfricaSuperLeague presentation was made…
This is Maclean Letshwiti - @OfficialML_BFA - President of the Botswana FA - @WeAreBFA, a @CAF_Online exco member. After the #AfricaSuperLeague presentation, he had questions as to how the annual $250m income will be raised. He was reportedly not satisfied with the answers given. Image

Well, after hearing from a @CAF_Online exco member on the deal, I have spoken to a source close to @Lagardere_SE_fr, with knowledge of the settlement and he had some interesting things of his own to say...
"Have you seen the settlement documents? If you have not, don't take the figures that you have been told for granted." He insists that the settlement figures are higher than the $25 million I have been told, even though he refused to give me the exact figure.
"Yes, the settlement was done around the 22nd, 23rd of November and the payment is to be in instalments. But the payment period is not very long and @CAF_Online have already made a lump sum payment," he claimed.
