2) I was not in DC for the 6 January 2021 Rally. I wanted to go. Fiercely. It wounded my ego to NOT go. Allow me a martial arts term: Zanshin. It comes from the Samurai and means your sense of threat or danger. For the Samurai it was almost a mystical concept.

3) In Akira Kurosawa's great film The 7 Samurai (which was the basis of the Magnificent 7), there is a scene in which a Samurai being recruited and tested, refuses to walk past an open door, which was, in fact, hiding an attacker. He was the greatest recruit. That was Zanshin.

4) In America, we often call the same thing one's Spidey Sense. The hair on the back of your neck standing straight up. Or, more simply, just fear. That was what kept me away from the rally. But, in not going, I felt I shirked my patriotic duty. I felt I surrendered.

5) I offer my justification. Were I to be arrested, the devastation my family would suffer would destroy us. Economically, to be sure. It goes far beyond that. I simply mention my adult, autistic son who lives with @KateScopelliti and me. We are his daily life support system.

6) This more, it really does take both his mother and myself to serve his daily needs. So, as you can tell, I deemed the risk beyond my risk-bearing ability. My fear, however, did not stop there. It took me the better part of a year to address the #J6Challenge in any way at all.

7) If memory serves - and it may not, as we shall see - I believe this podcast was the first time I spoke on topic. It was this podcast that brought me to today's thread. Actually, it was the fact that I forgot all about it.

8) Having forgotten, and been reminded (more on that in a moment), I watched the full episode over the weekend and was quite surprised by how relevant it still feels, now, a bit more than a year after being recorded. You should watch it when you can.

9) Our British friend, Mark Sutherland is not, I don't believe, here on Twitter or I'd tag him. You will find his remarks, well, quite remarkable. Mark is a hero, and a true friend. @tamaraleighllc, please do forward this thread to Mark if you will.

10) I won't characterize @HelpStopHate's contributions and leadership, either in the episode or in general. They're far too great to be summarized. But as you'll see, David brought two guests with him. And one, I had the pleasure of being reintroduced to last week: @TeamsaveUSA.

11) Here's the thing, not only did I NOT remember being on the podcast with Philip, my friends @HelpStopHate, @CondemnedUSA, and @tamaraleighllc instantly corrected me, informing that I had done a show with Philip, which I immediately denied. It was a strong, affirmative denial.

12) Enter the topic of aging and memory loss. But no, thankfully, that was not the cause. It didn't take me long to discover the cause. Once my memory broke loose, I remembered with excruciating clarity my jealous awe of @TeamsaveUSA, for his extraordinary COURAGE.

13) Here are two technical terms from psychology:

Ego Syntonic - your ego likes this stuff
Ego Dystonic - your ego does NOT like this stuff

Comparing myself to Philip, I could not help but level the inescapable self-accusation of COWARDICE.

14) Funny thing about humans, we tend to remember ego syntonic things far more than we do the dystonic. We repress or suppress the dystonic. Repression tends to be easily broken. You remember readily when reminded. Suppression, nope. No recollection at all.

15) Pride and shame are simpler ways of saying the same thing. But, they're also far more than just that. They are two of the most potent emotions in the human soul. During the podcast, I was both HUGELY proud of Philip, and deeply ashamed of myself.

16) Don't worry about fear and loathing quite yet. I do know how to forgive myself, and I have, well, mostly. Thing here is, when I consider the sacrifices heroes like Philip and all our glorious J6ers have made, the suffering they have and continue to endure...

17) Here's the fear and loathing part, hit hard. I fear an America that embraces the Soviet policy of gulags for political prisoners more than I can express. And I loathe that I must face the hellacious truth of this present reality. Where freedom rings, the bell is broken.

18) Let us therefore be resolved, regardless of past failures or weaknesses to boldly come forth and speak on behalf of our #J6Heroes. Let us work with all we are to match, to follow suit from their role model of Passion and Patriotism writ hard.

19) Let us inform our representatives that there is no other story in America rising to this peak of urgency and importance. Whatever it takes, we must, we must, we must...
