This past weekend, Tech Twitter in Kenya #KOT once again experienced a somewhat necessary or unnecessary incident, depending on which side you choose. From misinformation, to disinformation, to sense of entitlement (which I've been asked to explain/define), to sarcasm etc.

Without an iota of doubt, there are 2 things that should be pointed out
1. There is a problem/issue/discontent within the community
2. The people involved in this, as well as related issues, are very smart people. I would make bold to say, some of the continent's brightest

In my opinion, the 2nd point in the previous tweet is the bigger of the 2 issues. It would be quite difficult to explain this with a tweet or a thread of tweets, so I'll skip trying to do so right now.
However, what can be done to solve for the discontent in the 1st point?

First of all, what shouldn't be done is to kick the can down the road until the next tech event, meetup or conference that doesn't tick all the boxes for a few, or probably many people, and then vawulence erupts once again.

While it is honestly not my place, nor responsibility to prescribe answers or solutions to this complex & complicated issue, I would suggest an open, no-holds-barred, respectful (preferably) conversation on what's wrong, what can be fixed, & suggestions on how to go about it

Considering the potential large number of voices, viewpoints and concerned parties involved, coupled with the fact that the vawulence erupted & is raging here, a Twitter Space, sounds like a good platform to me.
At least I would love such an opportunity to share my views.

I care about the community through which I gained personal friendships & remarkable career growth, but by virtue of my green passport & my current job description, I don't think it is OK to prescribe this option, talk less of setting up a space.
For the past 15 years of my active working life, I've always wanted to build stuff. By some stroke of 'luck', I've worked in roles at great tech companies - Dragnet, 234nEXt, Paga, Dragnet, Audax, Afro(Cab) & now Google, where I wasn't required to write code to get paid.

I envy people who can think of an idea or get pissed off by a problem and just decide to open up their laptop, launch an IDE and just keep building till a version of the product is done.
My Uber just got pulled over by SARS officials. It was f@*king scary! 5 criminal-looking, thug-like individuals in an unmarked commercial bus (danfo). Searched the 2 of the 3 phones I was with, asked me to log in to my laptop (I politely asked "Why?") #EndSARS#StopRobbingUs

Location is Igbo Efon junction on Lekki - Epe Expressway heading east towards Chevron. Broad daylight, traffic light turns red, driver stops, there's only 1 car ahead of us, danfo pulls up right beside me (on the right), and these men surround the doors of the Toyota Corolla

I'm seated in the back seat, earphones in my ears on a video call with people from different cities across the world. After insisting & nearly pulling a gun on him, driver rolls down his windows, unlocks the doors, and 2 of the men jump into the car, 1 in front, 1 beside me
