I've always wanted to do "something in fintech" again.

Brainstorm ideas, build apps, manage products, deploy services, land another job, found a company.

In 2010, while speaking at a @drupal event in Unilag, @oviosu invited me to come join @paga as the first Nigerian "IT guy". There are few things as unfortunate as being unprepared and "unready" for a life-changing opportunity. My journey @paga ended the way it deserved to end. After about 11 months, I was asked to return my laptop to HR & not to bother showing up the next day at work.

Not again?

Entry-level (zero experience) developers and/or tech professionals in Nigeria, would you be willing to accept a 30-day internship that provides your the opportunity to work remotely, at your preferred pace, on 1 or 2 real-world projects & pays ₦75,000? You'll be joining a team, either as part of an existing project/product, or working on the MVP of a brand new project/product.

On "Day 1", orientation/onboarding is you joining a standup meeting. There'll be team members and/or a lead with more experience/expertise than you.

This past weekend, Tech Twitter in Kenya #KOT once again experienced a somewhat necessary or unnecessary incident, depending on which side you choose. From misinformation, to disinformation, to sense of entitlement (which I've been asked to explain/define), to sarcasm etc.

Without an iota of doubt, there are 2 things that should be pointed out

1. There is a problem/issue/discontent within the community

2. The people involved in this, as well as related issues, are very smart people. I would make bold to say, some of the continent's brightest

For the past 15 years of my active working life, I've always wanted to build stuff. By some stroke of 'luck', I've worked in roles at great tech companies - Dragnet, 234nEXt, Paga, Dragnet, Audax, Afro(Cab) & now Google, where I wasn't required to write code to get paid.

I take pride in being able to make complex things seem simple.

I've been learning machine learning actively, passively & actively again for the past 30 months.

And I'd like to share:

So I've decided to do something slightly uncomfortable. I'm going to put myself out there. A lot.

Blog posts, webinar series, talks (post-COVID-19) etc.

"Learning Machine Learning".

I love to debate (or argue)

My Uber just got pulled over by SARS officials. It was f@*king scary! 5 criminal-looking, thug-like individuals in an unmarked commercial bus (danfo). Searched the 2 of the 3 phones I was with, asked me to log in to my laptop (I politely asked "Why?") #EndSARS #StopRobbingUs

Location is Igbo Efon junction on Lekki - Epe Expressway heading east towards Chevron. Broad daylight, traffic light turns red, driver stops, there's only 1 car ahead of us, danfo pulls up right beside me (on the right), and these men surround the doors of the Toyota Corolla
