They’ll tell you that ‘we’ the fishermen and our families are labour activists. They’ll tell you that Labour have brainwashed and coerced us. ‘We’ are forcing an anti-freeport agenda. That they’re using us for their political gains.
Shame on them: exploiting political conflict for their own motives to make themselves sleep better at night.
They haven’t. We are not any one political party and we have our own voice - and their voice does not represent ours.
Their empty requests for financial report are a haphazard launched into the abyss so satisfy the media frenzy, to acknowledge that they were never going to consider anything but their own agenda. As if it ever could…
Their voice is sinister, bitter and venomous. They surreptitiously plot and plan and commit defamation of character from hard-working people who help and support the cause. Their voice could never represent ours.
We are strong-willed (call it stubborn if you prefer) committed, determined and united, something they’ll never truly be. ’We’ have become the activists and we are proud to be so.
’We’ have joined causes with a beautiful and magnificent array of individuals who are all campaigning for justice for our marine ecosystem and for the actual truth that they are standing in front of, arm in arm, refusing to break rank for.
But their wall has cracks, and they’re doubling by the minute.
So, next time you see ‘them’ stating that we are being propagandised for political gain, ask yourself if they are not doing the same to others. I assure you, we are not.
It didn’t have to be this way, the freeport could have been built safely and with standards deserved of such a beautiful area with hundreds of years of fishing heritage which have been carelessly wiped away for profit over preservation.
