🧵It’s disappointing to see States like Utah and Arkansas passing laws condemning gender affirming care without looking at the facts. You can’t be the pro-life party and continually pass laws that don’t save lives. #txlege #LGBTQ #transrights
Suicidal thoughts for trans or non binary Americans is 54% and 29% of those actually do take their own lives. Parents are fighting to keep their children alive, with mental health support and gender affirming care. They are doing the right thing to keep their kids alive!
While we stand by LGBTQ+ families and their personal freedoms and rights to choose what’s best for their children, we also stand by the Gender Affirming Care Doctors.
Medical treatment and medical care have advanced in this area and we live in a state where our legislative body is threatening prison for doctors who care for our most vulnerable population. They saw how successful threats were with the Abortion Ban so they continue.
Legislators are also threatening companies who support their employees getting the gender care they are seeking and covering it with their health plan. Those seeking gender affirming care in Texas is a very small percentage. You wouldn't know it by the way the politicians talk.
But .75 % of all Texas are Transgender. Let me put it to you in simple terms. If you had $100 only 75 cents would be transgender. So why so much effort to bully and go after the most vulnerable Texans? It’s just not a smart use of our tax dollars and energy.
We rather they debate the need for more rural health care than pick on these vulnerable few Texas. We also don’t know about you, but we thought the Republican party was the party of small government,
yet here they are ready to lock up everyone who isn’t in lock step with their beliefs. That’s not small government, that’s Fascism. We miss the days when Republicans were Fascists.
Articles I used for my research: projectq.us/trans-populati…
And we reserve the right to block anyone we want who comes after us with their anti LGBTQ bullshit. You people need to stop, learn, listen and try to understand. Take a biology class to learn more about how human biology works. You could learn something.
And the bible didn't say anything about trans people and Jesus wore a tunic FFS. And trust me no one talks about sex more than Republicans. Y'all have issues.
weren't fascists

🧵We were saving this post for a Substack but this morning there was a post about giving up on Texas and abandoning it. So let's talk about why Texas @texasdemocrats and grassroots need huge investments in Texas from @DNC @harrisonjaime
First Texas is the 2nd largest state land wise, it has 261,914 sq miles and it is larger than France. Alaska is the largest land wise state but also one of the least populated... but not Texas, which has the 2nd largest population at 29,730,311 people and 10m fewer than CA.
Now let's talk counties. Texas has the most number of counties than any other state at 254 the next state, Georgia has 159 counties. Tx also has 367 miles of coast line (It's #5) and 1,254 miles of common border w/Mexico (#1). Next largest in border is AZ, then NM, then CA.

🧵I am going to share a personal story on Christmas. Recently my Mother and I went on a trip to visit her sister who was in the ICU in Phoenix. On the way back at the airport she met a few immigrants who had just crossed the border in El Paso.
They were processed and were waiting for a flight. They had no money and asked my mothers for some. My Mom told them. “I do not have much money but I can give you a warm meal and buy you clothes if you help me take down my Halloween Decorations.” They agreed.
Then she dropped them back off at the airport where they were waiting for transport. She heard their stories, she speaks fluent Spanish and knew they were harmless and just trying to find a better life than the life they had in Venezuela.

🧵We are at the Texas Tribune 2023 Legislative Preview Session.we will post thoughts here. #ttevents
Is Dan Patrick’s last term? What will he push? What does he want his legacy to be? The best comment “Don’t over think Dan Patrick, he’s usually very clear on what he wants.”
The broad general public supports Operation Lone Star. We have seen 2 million crosses. We don’t even know how much as been spent. More on this later.

🧵Tonight I had an opportunity to talk to film director and activist @joshfoxfilm about doing an ad for us on climate change. Josh is incredibly intelligent and a person who is a creative doer! So let’s discuss the Texas border, politics and climate change.
The fact that no one is asking critical thinking questions about the Texas border and our immigration problem drives me insane. How can we win the messaging fight when we live in a sea of people searching for simple answers and someone to blame? So here it goes:
Why aren’t our politicians searching for answers about WHY people are leaving their countries and trying to come to America? Is it their leaders, their economy or climate change? Why don’t we ever discuss the root cause. Growing up the US used to send resources and $ to assist.

🧵 How they supress the student vote: I just got this email: The Brazos County Commissioners removed early voting on the Texas A&M campus last July. They claim it is to alleviate worsening traffic conditions, but this is a clear attempt to suppress student votes.
The new location at city hall has almost no parking, is a 30 minute walk from campus, and is not serviced by TAMU Transportation Services or Brazos Co busses.
I and several other students have been speaking out against the decision at commissioner hearings but they dismiss us as not real residents of College Station. I'm reaching out to you and similar groups to try and gain more attention on this issue.

🧵What do Rick Perry, Greg Abbott, the border, Uvalde and defunding the police all have to do with each other? Well let's unravel this ball of lies, cover ups, stunts and what is has to do with running for President. Stay with me it's a long one.
Greg Abbott’s border stunts is nothing new. He took this playing card straight out of Rick Perry’s playbook. In 2014, right before an election Rick Perry deployed a thousand tools to the TX border in exchange for media attention.
Both Governors blamed their Democratic Presidents for the situation. politico.com/story/2014/07/…
