A picture of the reconfigured Religious Right since the Trump era: Congress intervened to take the Nat’l Prayer Breakfast away from the controversial Fellowship Fndn (aka The Family), so an alternate right-wing event moved to the Museum of the Bible. No surprises so far. 1/

Tony Perkins (FRC) opened w/ a prayer. No surprises so far. Then Perkins handed it off to his co-host Jim Garlow, a key Indep. Charismatic Trump advisor w/ deep ties to the #NAR. He led the “Election Integrity Prayer Calls” in late 2020, a key organizing force for #January6th. 2/

Garlow intro’d a theme of repentance, and then had an (evidently Xn) man blowing a shofar, dressed in a tallit (Jewish prayer shawl). This Xn appropriation of Jewish liturgical symbols comes out of the Indep. Charismatic sector, and was key to the Xn symbolism of #January6th. 3/

I think all of this shofar-blowing/tallit-wearing stuff would have felt very fringy to your prototypical Religious Right leader 10 years ago, but now it’s simply integrated effortlessly, a sign of how much Indep. Charismatic tropes/practices are at heart of the New Xn Right. 4/

Cont. on #January6th theme: the worship songs at the event were led by Alma Rivera, an Indep. Charismatic leader who was present at the Capitol Riot. She is the one you hear singing “We cover the Capitol in the Blood of Jesus” in my Charismatic Revival Fury series about J6. 5/

Rivera shared a stage w/ key #NAR leaders Cindy Jacobs & Becca Greenwood at the #CapitolRiot as they led a spir. warfare campaign to overturn the 2020 election. She posted on FB what an honor it was this week to share a stage with Kevin McCarthy, et al. facebook.com/AlmaRiveraMusi… 6/

A few minutes later, you get more shofar blowing. Then Jonathan Cahn – a Messianic Rabbi and the keynote speaker of the #JerichoMarch on Dec 12, 2020, a central precursor event to #January6th – comes on stage to do his shtick about prophesying Amer parallels w/ Ancient Israel. 7/
