The #StateOfTheUnionAddres delivered by Biden last night was delusional and deceitful. It was constructed largely out of lies, which were used to create an image of a thriving America that bears no resemblance to reality. 1/
Just a few quick points: Biden hardly mentioned the central focus of his administration, i.e., the escalating war being waged by the United States against Russia. How can this astonishing omission be explained? #UkraineRussiaWar 2/
First, Biden knows that the war is unpopular among the broad mass of the American working class. Second, His government is presently in the process of working out its response to the rapid deterioration of Ukraine’s military position. 3/
Biden is not yet ready to tell the public that American troops will be deployed to “save Ukraine.” More time is needed to ratchet up the ongoing media propaganda campaign and generate an even higher level of anti-Russia hysteria. 4/
The other central feature of Biden’s speech was that it hardly mentioned the #pandemic. Buried in his speech were a few indifferent and dishonest sentences about a public health disaster that has cost a million lives in the US and millions more globally. 5/
Biden declared the pandemic over, and took a rhetorical victory lap by claiming that #Covid deaths are down 90 percent. That is, “only” 500 Americans are dying of Covid every day. Biden tossed in his standard reference to “empty chairs,” but made no reference to Long Covid. 6/
Biden’s deplorable speech - with its lies, platitudes, evasions and omission - testifies to the degraded state of the American political system and the disastrous state of the Union. 7/7
