CO2.click monitor firmware update adds 66x more storage space
One thing I love about co2.click (by @IndianaTux) is the upgradeable firmware so I keep getting new features and improvements added to the device I bought more than a year ago. 🧵1/ #IAQ
The latest v1.12.0 firmware update for the Model C allows the user to store 66x more data when it is offline allowing you to record data for the following lengths of time before storage is full depending on how frequently you are saving measurements: 2/
For various sampling rates you can be offline for:
66 hours = 1 sample/min
133 hours = 1 sample/2 min
333 hours = 1 sample/5 min
666 hours = 1 sample/10 min
1000 hours = 1 sample/15 min
3/
That translates into the following time before filling storage in days as:
2.75 days = 1 sample/min 5.5 days = 1 sample/2 min
14 days = 1 sample/5 min
28 days = 1 sample/10 min
42 days = 1 sample/15 min
4/
Being able to store up to 66 hours worth of readings now on Model C when sampling every minute makes it much easier to bring the device with you when going to a store or visiting another location. 5/
If you are going on a trip, you can slow down the sampling rate and get as much as 42 days worth of storage now. 6/
The next time you put the Model C back online on WiFi, it will upload all of the stored results to the cloud portal for you to view and/or download the raw data for your own analysis. 7/
The data on the portal after being uploaded will look something like the graph shown here. 8/
The sampling rate can be easily configured in the co2.click web portal by going into the "Configuration" section of the sensor and changing "How often data is sent to the cloud portal" to the sampling time you are interested in. 9/
You need to update this on the portal *before* taking your device offline. This will allow the CO2 monitor to get the updated setting the next time it connects to the portal (every 30 seconds when the device is online) and start using the new sampling rate. 10/
The slower the sampling rate, the lower the battery power used and the more data can be stored offline but the information about what is going on is less granular. 11/
If for example you wanted to log the CO2 in a car trip that only takes 15 minutes and you are saving data every 15 minutes, you may only get one measurement in the car when you might want to log how the CO2 changes over time. 12/
The portal also allows you to download the raw data to analyse and plot yourself. After 180 minutes of logging CO2 at a sampling rate of 15 minutes, you can see the general trend of CO2 levels in the space being measured. 13/
If you increase the sampling rate to once a minute you can see much more subtle movement in the CO2 levels in the blue line. The 15 minute CO2 samples are marked as red dots in this graph. 14/
You can see just before 100 minutes the CO2 levels spike to 710 ppm in between two 15 minute sample times. With only a 15 minute sampling rate, the max CO2 levels looked like they were below 700 ppm at 694 and you miss the actual peak. 15/
The nice thing is you have the flexibility to decide which is more important for your current needs: battery life and amount of storage time, or granularity in data. 16/

More people are now eligible for PCR testing and antiviral treatment in Ontario
Updated COVID PCR testing eligibility is now aligned with current recommendations for who should receive antiviral treatment if they get infected ( ontario.ca/page/covid-19-… ). H/T: @DaliaHasanMD 🧵1/

Please spread the word as it is important that all eligible people can find out if they have been infected as quickly as possible so antiviral treatment has the best chance of success. 3/
How the current public health strategy is not working in Australia
Despite a massive increase in Australian infections and death in 2022, a new Prime Minister and cabinet dismantled the remnants of the public health response to #COVID in Sept. 2022 (abc.net.au/news/2023-01-2…).🧵1/

The wealthy know how to protect themselves and don't think COVID is mild
While most governments and public health organizations are downplaying the severity of #COVID and relying on a vaccine only strategy, do you know who is taking COVID much more seriously? #DavosSafe 🧵1/

Sadly the 1,000th person in Ottawa died from COVID and 15,689 people in Ontario to date. Imagine the outrage if those were deaths from contaminated drinking water or food. 2/
We should be cleaning the air indoors too like we do to help ensure safe and clean drinking water (
