We mourn the loss of a legendary Texas law enforcement officer and retired Fort Worth police officer, Bill Hardin #196. Deputy Bill Hardin passed away surrounded by his family & loved ones at age 99.
Known as the “oldest and longest serving peace officer in the world”, Deputy Bill Hardin began his career with the Fort Worth Police Department on February 1, 1947.
During his career with FWPD, Officer Bill Hardin worked foot patrol, mounted patrol, and in narcotics division. He also served at the @FWSSR for 17 years.
After retiring from FWPD in 1985, he then served with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Dept. during the last 28 years.

On June 13, 2020 Fort Worth Police Officer Matthew Brazeal was severely injured in the line of duty when he was intentionally struck by a fleeing vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
Officer Brazeal sustained life-threatening injuries and has undergone extensive surgeries over the past two days in order to stabilize his condition.
Officer Brazeal is a veteran of the United States Army, where he proudly served his country as a combat medic.
He is a three-year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department and previously served the citizens of Parker County and Weatherford as a law enforcement officer. Officer Brazeal is a true American hero, who has dedicated his life to serving others.
