Hainan is an epitome of China's reform and open-up. as China's youngest province and biggest special economic zone, Hainan has enjoyed the late-comer advantages, transforming itself from a remote and underdeveloped island into a well-known int'l tourism island. 
In April of 2018, President XiJinping announced a decision to support building the whole island of Hainan into a pilot free trade zone and support Hainan to gradually and steadily push ahead with building of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
Over the past 5 yrs, Hainan has made great achiev'ts in economic transformation. The non-real estate sector investment increased by 12%. 4 pillar industry including
tourism, high-efficiency agriculture, high-tech &modern services contributed to almost 80% of its GDP growth.

#Hainan also boasts of the best eco-environment in China. The Tropical Rainforest National Park is one of China's first five national parks; and the proportion of installed clean energy and the share of new energy vehicles far exceeded the national average level.
