opening spiel: “a super row” great here we go. Yet more public time on those 88K multimillionaires. Speers says the “sales pitch was messy” - thanks, newsroom bosses for prioritising millionaires - and “the opposition went into overdrive”. #Insiders

the montage, like all the coverage of this miniscule section of the population - all multimillionaires - is about building a Br0KEn Pr0miSeS narrative on behalf of wealthy tories. #Insiders

in fact the montage is a showcase of absolutely garbage political journalism. #Insiders

#MakingNews starts with skilled worker migrants and - not unrelatedly - workforce shortages preventing a nurse in every aged care facility. #Insiders

some overblown leadership gossip and Speers editorialises about the teeny tiny delayed tax amendment for wealthy wealthy people hoo hah caused by him and his colleagues. Let’s start with the PoLiCy he says before we get to the politics lol like this lot can manage that. #insiders

Greber says it is complicated and tricky and accountants are tearing their hair out lol sure mate. He claims judges are exempt because of a deal they struck in the 60s. Fact check required there #Insiders

there are complexities in bracket creep says Speers and Greber bizarrely claims that “bracket creep is the secret way governments make money”. All week political journalists fretted over 20yo workers paying a higher marginal tax rate in 40 years time. #Insiders

yes complex so complex agree Karvelas, and she says $3 million is a lot of money and “you can boot these guys out if you’re angry about it”. Speers paraphrases this as the policy being “about capturing more people over time”. Honestly. Really. #Insiders

why are they legislating this [teeny tiny irrelevant to almost everyone and very fair vastly over-covered measure] now? Middleton labours thru the friendly Senate option and canvases the Br0KEn pR0miSe narrative. #Insiders

the Marles stumbling clip is played again and the Koch DEMANDING THE TREASURER MAKE PERSONAL PROMISES TO HIM, DAVID KOCH on the nazi-adjacent seven sunrise show is played, again. Speers bookends these with more BROKEN PROMISE bullshit. #Insiders

this lot are almost as enamoured by the Chalmers response to Koch as they were with the GAFFE that was going to sink Albanese except they were all completely wrong and despite their best efforts Morrison lost. #Insiders

we are still fucking going on the minuscule tinker that effects less than 0.5% of people with super accounts. Rich people are so so so important we should all gaf about their wealth accumulation arrangements apparently #Insiders

Coalition tax policy due to take effect next year. Middleton says “this whole debate” is going to make tax reform debate harder. Journalists would say that - they fight tooth and nail to dominate Labor government policy. #Insiders

someone has told Speers that Dutton did not consult shadow cabinet before announcing the Coalition will repeal a tiny and yet to be legislated tax rate on multimillionaires if they hypothetically win the next election which they will not. Okay, mate. #Insiders

Taylor says the Coalition has opposed $45 billion worth of Ho Dr meant “debt” - which is “investment” when the Coalition spend our cash - and “fiscal guard rails” are very important. The ones who lost over $70 BILLION and made a tax bureaucrat take the blame. #Insiders

apparently the Coalition had fiscal guard rails from 2013 to 2019 which is the weirdest pronunciation of #ROBODEBT I ever heard. Speers wraps without asking are you sure the 2013-19 budgets were *fiscal guard rails* and not milking the poor? #Insiders

sounds like a magic pudding, says Karvelas. The panel blather about future hypothetical budget repair under a fire imaginary Coalition government without once mentioning how the actual Coalition fabricated its budget bottom lines with debt notices that killed people. #Insiders

inflation. Has it peaked? WHAT IS CAUSING THE INFLATION, DAVID? Graph of prices. No mention of corporate gouging. Karvelas says we are not out of the woods and Speers asks if Labor MPs will have a crack at the RBA chortle chortle still no mention of corporate profits #Insiders

#RobodebtRC because there was a Morrison government minister lying about lying on the stand. Clip of Holmes asking Robert if he is obliged to “misrepresent things to the Australian public”. Middleton says unlawfulness is different to a difference of opinion in cabinet. #Insiders

Karvelas claims the Robert testimony goes to consequences - it really does not, he will pay no price at all - and Speers says “it” the #RobodebtRC has still got a way to run and “we will see”, which is his go-to phoney veil of neutrality phrase. #Insiders
