Hey question for @yyCBEdu: why is Hillhurst School having a "wellness talk" tomorrow featuring a Fox News talking head and regular guest of Tucker Carlson who spouts misinfo and pseudoscience about kids' mental health? #yyc#ableg#abedfoxnews.com/media/parents-…
@yyCBEdu There are many mental health professionals that could be tapped for this kind of talk that would be more appropriate and aren't approaching this from an ideological perspective. Is this reflective of @yyCBEdu's stance on children's mental health @LauraHack34, @patriciajbolger?
I'm sure @drangelagrace or some of her colleagues would have something to say on this
Wow, @yyCBEdu parent councils aren't allowed to buy HEPA filters, but they can pay for an American right-wing speaker who perpetuates hate speech on Fox News?

The other thing I’ll note is: as someone with chronic illness, I often have symptoms that make me feel unwell and if I only attended the doctor when I feel well, I would never get healthcare. We often need to be seen for testing when we have flares to determine cause.
With the removal of universal masking, signs in HC settings are getting to parking sign levels of confusing. “Masks are strongly rec but not required but are required for people with a cough. Masks are also required in this area between 9-5pm on MWF excluding rush hour bu…”
“Dr. X still requires masks to protect everyone but Dr. Y no longer requires masks and yes it does make them look like an asshole…”
“Masks are strongly recommended in the cancer treatment areas but feel free to raw dog the air in all the areas in which cancer patients have to walk through, unless you’ve recently received a parking ticket, which means we can’t trust you when you say ‘no man, it’s allergies.”
I've been looking at some @CIHI_ICIS numbers and, I have to say, any government that removes steps to reduce COVID transmission cannot ever claim to be fiscally responsible, nor claim that they are adequately addressing healthcare crises 🧵: cihi.ca/sites/default/…
In Alberta alone, COVID hospitalizations from April to Sept 2022 cost an average of $30,990/patient, and totalled $255,576,932 during that 6-month period.
We currently have 458 COVID hospitalizations. So that's going to cost the medical system nearly $15mil? And it seems like ~450 is our baseline now. (Source: alberta.ca/coronavirus-in…)
Ok so the thing that gets yada yada’d over when people say, “Oh we’ll just protect the vulnerable” is that I’ve had convos with HCWs where I said, “I am vulnerable to adverse outcomes. Can you take these measures for my safety?” They’re like, “*Scoff* no our measures are fine”
That’s why you need policies to codify these rules. And yes, the policies have always fallen short for actually protecting people most effectively from COVID, but this is just getting ridiculous.
It is willfully naive and disingenuous to say that people will protect vulnerable patients when they identify themselves. And this doesn’t even get into how people should not have to identify themselves or maybe do not know they are vulnerable.
I see there hasn’t been any sort of acknowledgement of the criticism of this tweet or apology, so I will point out that I’ve seen a lot of moral panic level discourse from people who should definitely know better on ADHD and late diagnosis for women 1/
