Americans are facing a mental health crisis. Nearly one in five people suffer from a diagnosis every year.

Researchers are turning to possible correlations between the mind and body—including #metabolichealth.
🧵
2/
Metabolic health has a significant effect on both #addiction and mental health.

Not only does being metabolically healthy reduce the risk of developing addictions, but evidence suggests it can improve mental health markers as well.
3/
Many mental health disorders are correlated to the altered metabolism of glucose. Switching to a #ketogenic diet may be helpful.

Improved metabolic health also has clinical evidence for prevention, as schizophrenia and bipolar disorders may increase metabolic health factors.
4/
Sugar is an addiction.

Clinically, sugar is more addictive than drugs. It lights up similar sections of the
brain and stimulates a strong dopamine response.

Striving to improve your metabolic health can make this #addiction much less severe, providing freedom and wellness.
5/
As patients become metabolically #healthy, they begin to remember what 'good' is supposed to feel like. Eliminating certain foods or substances allows them to identify certain addictions and live a healthier lifestyle as a result.

So you’re interested in #metabolic health and can see the benefits of making a change, but you're not sure where to begin your journey.

I suggest a two-step approach: researching for general awareness, then seeking certified coaching.
🧵
2/ The most basic definition of #metabolichealth is the creation and management of energy. But only 12% of Americans fall into that category. 88% are metabolically unhealthy.

Planning and direction are critical to future success, which is where
3/ Metabolic coaches work in an industry related to #healthcare, and have spent years refining their approach to wellness.

Since coaching can be accomplished virtually, it's efficient and convenient for those who are unable to travel or don't have time to visit in-person.

Opposite day:

@HuffPost also says this in the area they are quoting me.

"When you do eat red meat, remember to avoid high-fat cuts. As previously explained, fatty meats are high in saturated fats — something that does negatively impact heart health."
@HuffPost That's opposite of the truth.

Most people would benefit from eating more fatty cuts of meat.

When you eat less saturated fats, what are you adding to your food to make it taste good?

Bad fats, or sugar.

Avoid!
I'm going to re-write this paragraph so it is more accurate.

@HuffPost you are welcome to use this updated text.

I know I am speaking against the consensus of the Big Ag / Big Pharma backed AHA and ADA here.

Wait, you didn't know who paid their bills?

Oops.

Modern food recommendations make it harder to know what’s healthy and what isn’t.

You may have even recently been led to believe that Lucky Charms are healthier than steak.

So what should you eat to stay healthy?

I’ll explain:
2/
Whole, real foods are as unchanged as possible from their original forms.

If you can grow it, feed it, or pick it from a farm, it’s whole, real food.

Examples include:

Steak
Apples
Lettuce
3/
“Processing” refers to any form of food alteration.

Technically, this includes chopping, peeling, or cooking.

But there’s a difference between a salad and French fries, or cheese and Oreos.

There’s a difference between processed and ultra-processed.

Avoid the latter.

HDL and triglycerides are more predictive of heart disease than LDL.
You'd think such a simple statement would be easily verifiable and heavily tested.

You'd think that because you don't understand how companies in the medical industry make their money.
What if I told you that most diabetes could be reversed without drugs?

You'd think I was crazy, because the alternative feels impossible.

🚨4 metabolic myths from mainstream medicine that are killing you🚨

These 4 lies from big food and big pharma have infected medicine and nutrition, so you can’t trust most doctors.

Fixing your choices based on this thread will easily add 10 years to your life.
Big Lie #1

~Saturated fat is bad for you~

In 1948, Proctor and Gamble gave $1 million to the American Heart Association.

Then saturated fat became bad, and Crisco (a polyunsaturated fat) became good.
It’s just a coincidence that Crisco is a Proctor and Gamble product, right?

Of course not. Image
