In today's Time Traveler, we meet Sally Ride, the first American woman in space. She flew on two @NASA space shuttle missions in 1983 and 1984. She was also a physicist, author and advocate for science education.
2/ Sally Ride was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1951. She earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Stanford University in 1973 and a doctorate in physics from the University of California, San Diego, in 1978.
3/ @NASA selected Sally Ride as an astronaut in 1978. She became the first American woman in space on June 18, 1983, when she flew on the space shuttle Challenger. She flew on a second space shuttle mission in 1984.
4/ After leaving @NASA in 1987, Sally Ride became a professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego. She also wrote several books about space exploration, including "The Challenge of Space" and "Voyager: An Adventure to the Edge of the Solar System."
5/ Sally Ride died of pancreatic cancer in 2012 at the age of 61. She was a pioneer in space exploration and an inspiration to not only women and girls around the world, but everyone who aspires to reach for the stars.
I know we're not supposed to care about views and likes, but when you put a lot of effort and invest time to create something meaningful, it's disappointing to see a severely limited reach and reaction.
