At least 35000 refugees have been created by the #ManipurViolence. The official death toll is 60 and 25000 people are in army camps
Refugees in Mizoram have increased to 3583
Out of 2252 refugees in Assam 600 have returned to their homes, rest are being taken care of. (2/11)

In the ongoing rescue still many of the meitei people are hiding in forests without food or water
State govt. has announced a meagre aid of 5 lakhs, 2 lakhs and 25000 Rs. for death, grievous and non grievous injuries. Aid upto 2 lakhs for burnt/damaged house will be given. (3/11)

Root causes of #ManipurViolence :
1) Nehru gave ST rights to Christians and removed the ST rights of #Meiteis betraying Raja BodhChandra Singh.
2) Central Govt. passed Manipur Land Act restricting the meitei to 10% land in Manipur while christians could buy land anywhere. (4/11)

3) Kuki Christians from Burma have been settled in the Manipur hills since the 80s as a part of demographic warfare by the church (with support from foreign and Manipuri Kukis).
The recent "verification drive" to identify and deport them by the state govt. is a key reason. (5/11)

4) From the 90s, Burmese Kukis settled in the reserved forests built a parallel drug economy by cultivating opium over thousands of acres. They totally destroyed the ecology there
Recently repeated strict actions taken by state govt. on opium cultivations is another reason (6/11)

The opium trade funds insurgency, conversion and land grabbing rackets of the church and destroys the youth.
The monopoly on Manipuri hill land would be gone if the Meiteis are given ST rights and can buy land there.
The HC order on 27th March acted as the flash point. (7/11)

DGP P. Doungel took away all the licensed weapons of the Meiteis in Bishnupur district leaving them defenseless
More than 20 Meitei villages were totally burnt down here in #ManipurViolence
Majority of the police officers are Kukis which gives them a strong hold in police. (8/11)

The action of police received mixed responses. In some cases they sheltered people and moved them to safety while in other cases they did nothing and were mere obeservers

Overall the 10000 troops deployed here have been widely praised for restoring law and order and conducting rescue operations
However there are multiple reports from the Manipuri media that the Assam Rifles joined with kuki militants in places like Pokhao to attack Meiteis (10/11) twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Actions like a BJP MLA challenging the high court order giving Meiteis their basic rights only seem to prolong their struggle .
How much of the compensation will reach the actual victims is also in doubt.
Let us raise our voice and Meiteis can return home and sustain. (11/11)
