Got called a #transphobe yesterday after pointing out (about the awful case of child kidnap and abuse in Scotland) that men with transvestic fetishism (I won't use AGP as its contested) are more likely to be sex offenders. I always thought this was common knowledge. Got told Im
Making it up so for anyone not aware, here's a quick thread.
Transvestic fetishism is co morbid with flashing and spying on others sexually. Study admits this indicates men with TF (who are mostly het) are more likely to be sexually abusive.
Transvestic fetishism/disorder (ICD/DSM) is a paraphilic disorder along with exhibitionism, voyeurism, sadism, pedophilia among others. Paraphilias tend to be comorbid. Sex offenders are often paraphilic and 80% of sexual murderers have multiple paraphilia cambridge.org/core/journals/…
To the point it is advised in the link above that when treating men (very few women are paraphilic) with legal paraphilia ie transvestism questions should be asked to ascertain they do not have other paraphilias that are resulting in harm to others ie sexual assault/abuse.
In a study which compared sex offenders to the general pop, paraphilias were significantly higher. Thank God, pedophilia has the lowest comorbidity rate. However, sexual sadism, abusive behaviour and transvestism were found to be prominently comorbid link.springer.com/article/10.100…
A paraphilic disorder isn't just a kink. It's obsessive and intense...those affected will go to extreme lengths to satisfy their compulsion. Paraphilias are often also comorbid with trauma, mental illness, substance abuse and, worryingly, antisocial personality disorder and lack
Of empathy.
From what I can tell, this all seems to be pretty much accepted in criminology and psychiatry. So why is no one talking about it when it comes to Self ID? I'm not for one moment saying all paraphilic men are sex offenders. Most aren't. But we can't ignore this.
Neither do these studies show any link with gender dysphoria. No one is saying trans ppl are pedophiles. In fact, ppl who have been gender dysphoric since a young age are incredibly vulnerable themselves.
So here's the thing...by expanding 'trans' to mean any guy who Self IDs
TRAs are putting trans/gender dysphoric people in danger too! As well as women and girls. It baffles me the complete lack of regard for safeguarding.
It really makes you wonder whose interests are being protected here 🤔

I spoke briefly (terrifying but worth it) at #LetWomenSpeakBirmingham yesterday and although I'm worried about any backlash particularly loss of clients and work etc, I'm glad I did. As an #autistic woman who has been parroting the gender woo for a while now, I'm so worried
About what is happening in #autism services and to #autistic kids as revealed by @hannahsbee (her book was a real turning point for me, its evidenced, balanced and free of ideology) I had intense issues with my body as a pre teen. I couldn't cope with the changes of puberty. I
Can totally see the appeal of rejecting all the societal bullshit that comes with being a female, especially when you're also #autistic and moving through the world is hard enough. Except, we can't ever really reject it. 'Top surgery' and Pronouns won't take away dysphoria, or
Had a conversation at #LetWomenSpeakBirmingham today which really made me think? Why aren't TRAs fighting for their OWN spaces? It's true that TW suffer from increased risk of male violence and need protection. With all the funding the LGBTQ orgs get, why is this not their focus
Instead of fighting women and trying to force everyone to use the TRA lingo? There is a real need for #trans specific refuges, rape crisis centres etc and I guarantee most women would fight for them and with them on this. I don't want anyone to be a victim of male violence and
All survivors need support and effective well funded services. Other minorities have built their own spaces. Rape crisis centres for gay men. Refuges for women of colour. Support groups for the disabled. Etc etc. It seems deeply weird that the trans rights movement is more focus
