Delhi High Court to shortly conduct Awareness Workshop on Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and will launch Cyber Awareness Interactive Videos.
Arora: The reason behind the strength of awareness as the defender of crime is because children as compared to most of us adults are both sensitive and receptive.
Arora: I convey my regards to Delhi High Court for associating us with in the project and giving an opportunity to @DelhiPolice in this unique educative venture.
Arora: I'll also like to mention that the Delhi police will be working hard to enlarge the scope, the volume and, based on the feedback, the quality of these awareness videos to make sure the message reaches as many children in Delhi.
Chief Justice Sharma: The statistics are a haunting reminder for us to expanding our efforts in making not only the offline world but also the online world a safe place for our children to navigate.
Chief Justice Sharma: I was friendly with an international tennis player. He got married in front of me. A child was born, i went to the hospital. After about four years, i was having a walk in school at Indore, the child by then was about 5 years old.
Chief Justice Sharma: She was playing tennis with her father. After the game was over, i went to the child and being a Hindu, I placed my hand on her head and i said ayushman bhava. The first reaction from the child was please don't touch me uncle.
Chief Justice Sharma: I was shocked. Then the international player came running to me and he said she's too young so good touch and bad touch she can't understand, so we have told her no touch at all.
Chief Justice Sharma: It's only your parents who are your well wishers in this cruel world. Don't trust anyone till you're grown up. Even when you grow up, parents are your best friends. Please trust them and listen to what they are telling you. It's a cruel world.
Supreme Court judge, Justice Narasimha now delivers the presidential address.
Justice Narasimha: I'll just share two ideas that I have. First and foremost, this being an online sexual abuse related issue, and the insidious way technology has entered into lives of children, we are discussing an issue which is pre crime stage.
Justice Narasimha: And if this is successfully implemented, substantial gains can be attained. First and foremost, I think it's the awareness which is very important.
Justice Narasimha: What actually stuck me is something very different. Perhaps we are missing that. As courts, we are in the realm of decision making while parliament declares law and prescribes crime and as courts we adjudicate.
Justice Narasimha: I think there is a shift in the way the court has been approaching things since last couple of years. Instead of merely declaring the law enforcing in the form of judgments, I think I've perceived that courts have taken proactive step in this regard.
Justice Narasimha: I could see the way we have gone forward to ensure that arbitration laws are actually implemented. Same happens with mediation and also juvenile justice. There is also one of those classical instances where there is actually a shift in the way as judge and also… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Justice Narasimha: we've seen so many statutes, the biggest example is the construction workers statute, which has about 225 Rules as to how to secure their interests. But that has remained in paper. That extra step which is necessary to be taken after the law is enacted by… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Justice Narasimha: I must congratulate all of you of the Delhi High Court to be the precursor in that. We are the biggest stakeholders and we see how crime is committed and case after case we see it's not being implemented.
Justice Narasimha: The laws are clearly laid down and when we take an extra step and seek to implement the laws, I think the purpose and object of enactment will be accomplished.
Justice Narasimha: In this proactive step you move out in the corridors of the court and seek to implement it and for implementation, you need the help and assistance of others.
Justice Narsimha: What will be the consequence of this is knowledge and awareness. This is the strength which we will give to the children as to what will be done in situation after situation. I conclude by congratulating all of you again.
