#TodayInHistory Pakistani Army massacres more than 200 Bengali Hindus at Bagbati in Sirajganj sub-division of Pabna district. Another of the ghastly massacres of East Pakistan in 1971. Image
When Pakistan Army occupied Sirajganj under Operation Searchlight, the Bengali Hindus took refuge in the nearby villages of which Bagbati was one. Just one day before a meeting was held between the Razakars and the Peace Comittee
The so called Peace Committee or the Nagorik Shanti Comittee, was a front of the Pakistani Army, to crush the revolt in East Pakistan, and act against the Mukti Bahini. Along with the Razakars, they were one of the most dreaded units during the occupation.
On the early morning of May 27, 1971, the Pakistani Army, Al Badr the Razakars and the Peace Comittee surrounded the village of Bagbati. Al Badr was another dreaded paramilitary outfit, that like the Razakars carried out the killings of Hindus.
The Al Badr was made up of Bihari Muslims, and one of their most notorious acts was the massacre of intellectuals in Dhaka University on December 14. Trained by Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, a Jamaati member. Image
The Al Badr, Pakistani Army, Razakars,Peace Comittee indiscriminately began to fire, and over 200 Bengali Hindus were dead. Homes were burnt, the women were raped. The dead bodies were dumped in wells.
Bagbati today stands mute testimony to the brutality of the Pakistani Army and their Razakar collaborators in East Pakistan. Never ever forget what they did to the Bengali Hindus.
Someone needs to do a 1971 story or Bangladesh files on the massacres Bengali Hindus suffered at hands of Pakistan army. The stories are just heart rending.
Hindus in Bengal had to face the worst in 1947 and 1971. Almost every other family there has rather painful memories of both the years, not to mention what the Left Front did at Marchijhapi. It was like from the frying pan into the fire.

Ujjain Mahakaal Corridor after a heavy storm the Saptharshi Gallery was fully damaged. This was built at a cost of 800 cr. Our ancestors built temples that withstood far greater storms, invasions, floods. ImageImageImage
Kedarnath Temple survived one of the worst flash floods ever built centuries ago. And this Mahakaal Corridor built in this century, could not handle a storm. There has to be an investigation into the quality of material used to make these Saptharshi statues. ImageImageImage
Its obvious there was a lot of Ghotala going on. How can one use such cheap quality construction. Yeh log ab Bhagvaan ko bhi nahi chod rahe hai.

The very learned Pandit Jackson was as ruthless towards revolutionaries notwithstanding the veneer of civility. He banned public meetings in Nashik, did not take action against English officers, who behaved rudely with the local Indians.
When an English engineer William, killed his coachman, this "Pandit Jackson" released him on lack of evidence. When Babasaheb Khare defended a group of youth who were convicted for shouting “Vande Mataram”,  he barred him from practicing in the court.
And the final straw was convicting and arresting  Tatya’s elder brother Babarao Savarkar for printing a 16 page book of the poems of the revolutionary Kavi Govind. Yes poor Pandit Jackson who was shot dead by those bloody natives.

#TodayinHistory Operation Shakti, when the India Govt under AB Vajpayee, conducts 5 nuclear explosions in 1998 at Pokhran over two days, the second such, after Operation Smiling Buddha in 1974. ImageImage
Of the 5 detonations at Pokhran II, the first was a fusion bomb, while the rest were fission ones. While there were 3 explosions on May 11, 1998, the other two were on May 15. The operation came to be known as Shakti or Pokhran II.
India's nuclear program started way back in 1945, when Homi Jehangir Bhabha, established the TIFR, for harnessing nuclear energy. However post the 1962 War, and death of Bhabha, the program slowed down. Image

Gangamma Jatara is one of the more popular celebrations in Chittor district primarily, much like Bonalu in Telangana, that is currently being celebrated. While it's celebrated all over Chittor dt, its the Tirupati one that is quite prominent.
Thread. ImageImageImageImage
Gangamma is believed to be the Grama Devata of Tirupathi, and also the sister of Shree Venkateswara. The celebrations over a period of 7 days begin at the Thathaiahgunta Gangamma temple to east of Tirupathi. ImageImageImage
There was a Palegar ruling over Tirupati, who used to harass women for his lust. He would pick up any young woman he fancied and rape her. And also asked every young man to send his wife to him on their first night.
