/2 Budget 2022 pledged sums to prevent & tackle forest fires, emergency prevention preparedness - $315,000,000 for the country - buy specialized fire fighting equipment, train new fire fighters and incorporate Indigenous Traditional Knowledge in our Fire Management Systems.
/3 Thus far, the Federal Government has contributed to 6 Provinces and Territories to acquire fire fighting equipment, vehicles, mobile units, avionics, hoses, pumps and enhanced communications equipment.
/4 Minister Wilkinson states that as of today, under the first Phase of the Wildfire Training Program the Federal Govt has signed an agreements with 9 Indigenous communities and organizations to help train more than 300 Indigenous fire fighters and 125 Indigenous fire guardians,
/5 across the country.
/6 The Federal government will be developing a Wildfire Satellite Mission - the world's first purpose filled public satellite system for monitoring fires, which is targeted to launch in 2029.
